End of Year Notes
The end of the school year is quickly approaching!
- Meds Pick Up: Nebraska regulations require all medication left at school at the end of the school year be discarded. This includes inhalers and Epinephrine Auto-Injectors. Unless your child has current permission to self-carry their medication, the school is not able to allow your child to bring the medication home themselves. If you need to make special arrangements to pick up medication, please call the school to make arrangements. Medications not picked up, will be disposed the last school day that students are in attendance.
- Last day for Library Checkout: May 10th and 11th
- Club 66: The last day for Club 66 will be MORNING ONLY on May 27. There will be no afternoon Club 66 on the last day of school.
Summer Learning Opportunities
Throughout the school year, as part of Westside’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process, students are assessed in reading and provided with strong instruction to support their needs. To engage families and extend the learning for students, we are sharing ways in which you can support your child with their reading. As we enter into summer, it is important to encourage practice in the area of reading so that students maintain the skills they learned this year.
This link: https://tinyurl.com/ue2tbc6v outlines opportunities to continue learning with and without technology. Included are links to various activities you can do with your child, as well as reading programs available in the community and some website/app recommendations. The top priority this summer is simply having your child read every day. This can include times when someone reads to or with them.
Friendly Pet Reminder
If you'd like your child to eat breakfast at school, we ask that they be here between 8:10 - 8:15 am, so they do not miss out on important school time.
- All Meals Are Currently Free of Charge.
- Please note: There is a charge for EXTRAS, WATERS and second MILKS
- Below is next week's Breakfast menu. A new Breakfast Menu coming soon!
Student Council Outreach Fundraiser May 10th - 14th
The LifeHouse is an organization that provides over 50,000 diapers a month to 10 different partner agencies across the city. They are also open at the Outreach Center right in the Prairie Lane Neighborhood to serve clients with food and diapers twice a month. What a great opportunity to show our support and help them out with the summer months coming! The LifeHouse is in high need for size 4 diapers right now, but any size would be greatly appreciated too. They are also in need of Peanut Butter and Jelly so they can stock up their food pantry and gear up for summer, when there is a high need for lunch food items.
Please bring items to the main hallway near the office.
