I have A LOT of them lately :-) As I sat in the back of church today at our all school Mass I thought, "How lucky am I to have this time every week to give thanks to God, to be reminded of how blessed I truly am and to ask God for continued faith, renewed energy and ever present courage, strength and guidance." As I sat in one of our first grade classrooms today reading to students, I thought, "How blessed am I to work in a place where I get to enjoy the sound of children's laughter, feel the warmth of a pint sized embrace, and answer what must be 100 questions in the span of 10 minutes." As I walked through the halls today, I thought, "How fortunate am I to be surrounded by a group of educators who despite every obstacle and challenge thrown their way continue to put their heart and soul into ensuring their students are given every opportunity to grow and learn. From the outside looking in Borromeo could easily be mistaken for an aging brick building with little in the way of architectural details to add appeal. Alas, to be cliche beauty often lies in the eye of the beholder and "it's what inside that counts." I think Borromeo is a beautiful place because even in the midst of added stress and a bit of extra chaos love lives inside. I pray that each day your family finds peace and comfort in knowing that together we are one very large faith family.

ENROLLMENT for current families will open on MONDAY, JANUARY 24th. This includes current families who will be enrolling new siblings in our preschool and/or day school programs. Information related to tuition, the enrollment process etc. can be found in the letter linked below. PLEASE feel free to contact the school office with any additional questions!

There are a few different options available to families to assist with tuition costs. The Today and Tomorrow foundation flyer was sent to families last week. The original flyer can be found below for those who might have missed it. There are also tuition grants available through the parish. These grants can ONLY be applied after one has already applied for assistance through the archdiocese. This letter is also linked below. Again, please let us know if you have any questions related to these opportunities.

We are looking forward to meeting and greeting new friends and families at our annual OPEN HOUSE. This year's event will be held on Sunday, January 30th from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm. Please find a copy of our 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR pictured and attached below. We have pulled out some important dates for you to assist with any future planning. One item of note / change from previous years' calendars. Every third Wednesday is marked with an aqua blue square to indicate a 2:15 dismissal for all students. Students who cannot be picked up at this time will be able to stay and care will be provided free of charge. Any students remaining after 3:00 pm will be filtered into our BASK program and BASK rates will apply. This time will be utilized by teachers to work in Professional Learning Communities to further their growth as instructional leaders.

We will be sharing the final version of our 2022-2023 school year calendar shortly. For planning purposes please the following important dates ~

First Day of School...................AUGUST 16 - NOON DISMISSAL

Fall Break..................................OCTOBER 24 - 31

Christmas Break...................... DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 2

Spring Break.............................MARCH 20 - MARCH 24

Last Day of School...................MAY 26

We will continue to operate our before BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL KIDS program for the upcoming school year. We will accept BASK enrollment forms for the new school year when school enrollment opens. The form for enrolling in the program is included below. All paperwork can be turned into the main office. While this information is not typically sent out until closer to the start of the new school year, we wanted to provide a complete financial picture sooner than later for those families potentially in need of this care. All families and students are welcome to register for our BASK program at any time throughout the school year. If you have a high school or college aged student who is interested in working in our BASK program we are always looking for new responsible employees as well!

At this time there are no plans for any significant changes to either our school lunch program or our school uniforms. As we get closer to the start of the school year Food Service Consultants will contact us with detailed information regarding menus, cost etc. There is typically a slight increase in the cost of lunch each day but it is still too early to determine. Fischer's, our uniform company, will be offering a discounted rate for Borromeo families Sunday, May 29th through Saturday, June 4th for all in store and online orders. (SEE FLYER LINKED BELOW) They are not able to share a new set price list with us at this time for uniform items as they are awaiting information from their distributors.

THANK YOU again to all who have continued to support us on our COVID journey. While we would LOVE to say that those reaching out with symptoms of runny noses and mild sore throats are suffering from spring colds that is simply not the case. In our experience most of these symptoms have resulted in a positive COVID case. We want our kiddos in school and need staff to teach them. Continuing to monitor symptoms and returning when they have subsided will allow us to do so.

As we continue to move through this surge of positive COVID cases masks will remain mandatory at SCB. We will reconvene in the near future to determine a future date and timeline for any potential changes in this area.

If you have received your COVID vaccine and want it to be documented in our FACTS system please send records to Nurse Quarando at nurse@borromeoschool.com. Please note this is not a requirement.

Just a quick reminder, Please remember to bring water bottles to school, we are going through a lot of cups recently.

As a reminder there is NO SCHOOL on MONDAY in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In addition to serving as a day of remembrance, this day also serves a day of service. We encourage and invite all of our families to seek an opportunity this weekend or on this day to serve their community in a positive way. Our family is looking forward to sharing gifts and treats with the employees at some of our local Urgent Cares. Love always wins and there are many in our community who could benefit from the gift of love at this time.

Below is additional information for our upcoming DINE OUT NIGHT at Chipotle! We hope you can join us. Our HOME AND SCHOOL team has also scheduled a DINE OUT NIGHT at Mattingly's off of Cave Springs on February 23rd. One of the BIGGEST HOME AND SCHOOL events each year is our annual Kindergarten - 8th Grade Field Day. PLEASE mark your calendars for APRIL 29th!!! This is the date that Blanchette Park was available for our group. If you are new to us and looking for a way to get involved this is your day! Field Day is a fan favorite among our parents and families.

It is time to start planning for this year's Fish Fries. In particular, we are in need of leaders to be in charge of ordering the food, organizing volunteers, Thursday prep nights and Friday kitchen staff. If these roles are not filled, we will not be able to do Fish Fries this Lent. If you are willing to be a leader for this year's Fish Fries, please contact Fr. Hi SCB Families,

Each year during Catholic Schools week (January 30th – February 4th) we have our Annual Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon. This is an opportunity for our teachers to eat lunch in a fun and relaxing way together and without any task at hand other than fellowship with one another. They truly love this opportunity.

In order for this event to take place, it takes volunteers across all grades to sign up to work in their child’s classroom. Below you will find a sign-up for volunteering in the classrooms. Teachers will provide activities and provide you a schedule, many classrooms have their lunch and recess during this time so volunteering is easy. This is a great way to say thank you to that teacher and also get to hang with your kiddo and their friends!

This year Catholic Schools Week will take place January 31st - February 4th with our OPEN HOUSE scheduled for the Sunday prior, January 30th. For those new to us Catholic Schools Week is a busy week filled with a variety of activities and celebrations. We have attached a "tentative" schedule of activities and events for the week. PLEASE note we are still revising and adding to our plans to ensure a fun, safe and faith filled week for all!

We are grateful for ALL OF OUR Cafe helpers. Our first session (11:00-12:00) is a slower pace with K-3 students and is mostly helping open items, pass out disposable silverware and condiments, help kiddos stand in line patiently for recess, and help wipe off tables. The second session (12:00-1:00) is a much faster pace yet has lots of kiddos 4-8 grade in and out of the Cafe in less than an hour. This is mostly monitoring/walking the room and helping wipe off tables. Thank you in advance and thank you to those who have helped in the past and continue to help!
