Walnut High School was ranked in the top 50 best public high schools in the state, according to recently released rankings from Niche.com.

Walnut High School came in at #43 as Best Public High School in California and #9 as Best Public High School in Los Angeles County. The leading research website also placed Walnut High School in the top 1% of 19,984 high schools in the nation.

Niche's 2022 rankings factored in both academic and student social life data from thousands of schools across the country. The most important factor was academics, but Niche also looked at culture and diversity, teachers, clubs and activities, sports, and more. The company rigorously analyzes public data sets and millions of reviews to produce comprehensive rankings, report cards, and profiles for every K-12 school, college, neighborhood, and large employer.

A custom electric guitar built from scratch!

This week, Jennifer Lee, Stephen Lui, and Jaydan Trinh who are a part of The Luthiers Club finished their guitars and had a chance to test them out!

The Luthiers started the process in the fall by drawing the body shape, sculpting the body, building the neck, coating, installing the electronics, and much more!

Students from the Luthiers Club apply #STEM skills, hands-on learning, problem-solving, & trade skills. ‬

A big shoutout to our teacher, Richard Kim, who worked with our students throughout the year to build the guitar and secured funding for our kids!

Congratulations to Sophomore Jason Chen, a Gold medal winner at SkillsUSA Region 3! SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

Students from the Walnut High FBLA Chapter are heading to Chicago this summer! Congrats to our group led by Lailah Gallegos as they competed in Regionals during Spring Break.

In 2019, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 328, which requires high schools next fall to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. SB 328 is rooted in over three decades of research on teen health, sleep patterns, and brain chemistry. Its goal is to align school start times to support better sleep habits, student health, and performance in school.

Working closely with our staff and the district, we began preparing a plan to minimize disruption to our existing bell schedule and make any operational adjustments (transportation, food service, etc.) to support these changes.

Earlier this month, we finalized our new bell schedule that will go into effect starting next school year. To help you prepare for the changes in our start time and end times, we wanted to give you access to the updated schedule which will go into effect on August 8, 2022.

Seniors can purchase a maximum of 2 additional tickets at $15 each at the ASB office. Purchase must be in cash or a check made out to Walnut High School. We will sell these two additional tickets until we run out of tickets. Tickets will be handout out to students the day before graduation at the second graduation practice.

It's that time of the year when our Seniors start deciding their next steps and which school they will be attending. We want to celebrate where they are attending school next year! Once they decide which school they plan to attend, please fill out the google form, upload a photo in their college gear with their acceptance letter, and we will feature our Seniors! Over the next six weeks, we will be recognizing this huge milestone in their life! We can’t wait to celebrate with you! (The google form is only accessible to WVUSD student accounts).

Before Spring Break, our marquee software froze and would not allow any updates. This pre-WIFI marquee and software is old and It’s a matter of time before it completely breaks down. Since it’s an expensive replacement, we need to start raising funds for it now.

This year, WHCC spent $20k on lunch tables and umbrellas and we hope to incrementally add more as funds are available.

For Senior families who are interested, we have the Mustangs Forever Package (4 VIP seats + 1 VIP parking space at graduation) available for a $1500 donation. There are 10 packages available on a First Come First Serve basis. The donation link will be available Friday, April 29th.

As an added bonus, on Thursday, April 28, ALL seniors will be entered in 2 free drawings for a chance to win a Mustangs Forever Package. The 2 winners will be announced on the school website, Friday Forecast and social media.

The Walnut High School Girls Volleyball Program will be hosting their 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Los Serranos Golf Club. This event raises vital funds to support our girl's volleyball program. These funds will be used to purchase much-needed equipment, tournament fees, transportation, meals, and supportive coaching staff to help them succeed on the court.

Our goal is to always provide a safe, instructive environment for all of our athletes to learn and develop skills to be better volleyball players, but more importantly, productive members of society and fielding a competitive program.

To continue to make this experience a reality for our program, we are reaching out directly to area businesses, family, and friends and offering the opportunity to help by becoming a sponsor.

The Women of AT&T National Scholarship program was established to encourage and reward personal and professional development, focusing on continuous growth, advancement, and success through education, leadership, and community involvement.

The program awards scholarships to deserving students who are attending or will soon be attending an establishment of higher learning. Applicants must be sponsored by a Women of AT&T member.

The Women of AT&T National Scholarship Committee annually determines the amount of money and number of scholarships awarded based on funding availability. In 2022, the Committee is pleased to announce that forty (40) $1000 scholarships will be awarded to:

Use the Walnut High School COVID 19 Reporting Form to report all Covid positive cases and known exposures. This will help facilitate the contact tracing process. Someone from the school health team will contact the person who submitted the form within 48 hours of the form submission.

Visit our website at www.walnuths.net and click on the button labeled REPORT A COVID-19 Case in the top left-hand corner. Parents can upload vaccine records, positive tests, and report details related to positive cases and possible exposure.

The information will go directly to the attendance office and our school nurse.

We are offering FREE After School tutoring on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after school from 3:00 - 4:30 pm in the library starting next week. Tutors will be available in all content areas to help our students with homework, study for tests, or anything they need!

Our GLCs held a College Application and Financial Aid Information Night over YouTube Live. Below the video contains the Frequently Asked Questions during Financial Aid Night 2021.

This short video provides a variety of College and Career Readiness Resources for this years Seniors.

Students must attend every class, every day, and be on time. In order to receive daily credit, students are to bring all necessary materials to class. Students will not be excused from class to get materials. Homework and class assignments are to be completed on time and to the best of the student’s ability. Only behaviors befitting the learning environment are acceptable. Students are to comply with all reasonable requests of any staff member. Dress code will be enforced.

Attendance is an essential part of each student's educational plan at Walnut High School. A parent/guardian must contact the attendance office for full-day absences by the end of the day. This procedure helps us fulfill required attendance monitoring obligations and helps ensure our students' safety.

Any student who arrives 30 mins late to school must check in to the attendance office either with a parent/ guardian or a phone call from their parent/guardian.

If a parent/guardian wishes to dismiss a student before the end of a typical school day, the parent/guardian will have to check out the student and must present their ID to the attendance office.

Due to safety concerns, we DO NOT accept student lunches in the office. We understand the importance of student nutrition, but we encourage students to either purchase lunch at school or bring their lunch from home. Food, drinks, or other items are NOT to be passed to students through the fence. This is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Please Note: Parents can now access the Food Services Department from our website under the Parents tab. On that page, parents can set up and deposit funds into their student's lunch account for purchasing lunch on campus.
