Welcome Back Newsletter 2022-2023
A Word from Mrs. Kitts
It is another exciting start to the school year. Our mission at Switzerland County Elementary is to provide students with a nurturing and inclusive environment to prepare them for life outside of these walls. We know grit and perseverance are equally important so we can only hope that by letting students know we care about them, that we are able to push students to reach their full potential in and outside of the classroom.
Near the end of last school year, we saw our schools open up and events in full swing. We expect much of the same at the start of the school year. Because of this, we are once again looking for volunteers at school! Grab a volunteer form and a limited background check form at the office if you are interested!
I am pleased to announce that school supplies are FREE for all students again this year. The Community Foundation of Switzerland County and Belterra donated money to this cause and we are very blessed! We ask that all students have a backpack, headphones and water bottle. We will continue to use our water stations again this school year!
Breakfast and lunch are FREE for ALL students again this year! Students can still choose to order a hot tray or a PBJ tray even if they pack! Even though this is free for ALL students, it is still important that you fill out the free/reduced paperwork as this will impact book bills. We are super appreciative of all the hard work of our Food Service Director, Gayla Bullock. Because of all her hard work, we will be a CEP school for another four years which means that ALL students will receive FREE breakfast and lunch at a minimum for the next FOUR YEARS!
The rest of this newsletter will be a guide to important information regarding the start of the school year. It covers communication, carline pick-up/drop-off procedures and more!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out by phone at (812) 534-3128 or by email at email@example.com.

Car Line Procedures
If you haven't already, make sure that you have a car line number. You can get one by calling us at the school at (812) 534-3128 and request a number. This number should match the number on your child's backpack. This helps ensure safe and quick pick up. If you don't have a number after the first week of school, you will be asked to get out of car line and park your car to sign out your child(ren).
If you have children who are in multiple grade levels, communicate with your child's teacher as to what entrance you will be sending them to.
As always, the first few days are always the longest in car line until all the students get used to the procedures so please be patient.
Class Dojo - It is used to send private messages to your child's teacher or vice versa. At the start of the school year, your child's teacher will give you the information needed to login to the app.
Skylert- Please make sure all your contact information is accurate in Skyward. When we send out a Skylert concerning a delay, no school or information regarding events, you will receive a phone call, text or email (whatever you specified).
Switzerland County School Corporation App- The app is a one-stop-shop for all your needs! Want to know what SCES is having for lunch or when the Christmas program is - check out the app! You can download it Google Play Store and Apple Store.
