Ecoprint and Natural Dye Workshop
25th August to 1st september. Brittany France.
A seven day ecoprint retreat in a glorious French manor house, led by Caroline Nixon.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.
We will commence with the foundation skills needed to get crisp clear vibrant prints - a revelation for beginners, and a useful recap and refining of technique for improvers. We will then move on to the exciting world of combining ecoprint with natural dyes and tannins. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of different dyes and tannins, using multiple different techniques. You will learn how to prepare, mordant, and care for your fabric. Small group size means everyone will have plenty of individual attention
By the end of the workshop you will have acquired the knowledge and skills to continue these techniques confidently at home. You will have the chance to work on samples, scarves, yardage and garments
Breakfast lunch and dinner will be served, using fresh local produce, some of it grown in the potager at Kerledan. Emphasis will be on European and Middle Eastern flavours and special dietary needs can be accommodated. House wine will be provided with dinner.
The small group size, atmospheric surroundings, and fabulous food will make every evening feel like a dinner party !
On one half day we will have an outing, perhaps to a local brocante, or to the 'Valley of the Saints', where the 1000 saints of Brittany are sculpted out of monumental pieces of rock. On that day, lunch will be at a local restaurant, at participants' expense.
