The Sparkman Engineering Academy had an exciting week at the FIRST Championship in Houston. They got chosen to the number 8 alliance in the Galileo division as the only rookie team chosen in the entire competition and the only team chosen from Alabama! The kids had a great time learning from the other teams!
We honored our April Students of the the Month this morning who exemplify the characteristic of integrity!
We want to congratulate Alyse McBrayer, a senior at SHS, who received the Girl Scout Gold Award. This is the highest level award presented in the Girl Scouts. Alyse completed her Gold project with the National Children's Advocacy Center in Huntsville. As a result of her volunteer and service to the community, Alyse was also awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award.
We want to congratulate Kody Purinton, Keaton Rohlfs and Jackson Mayes as being selected for delegates at Boys State at the University of Alabama!
We want to congratulate Sparkman Senator Saylor Cuzzort who has been selected as a delegate to Girls State at The University of Alabama!
Congratulations to our students featured this week for being named into ACT Club 30 for scoring 30 or higher on the ACT!

Great News! PowerSchool online registration for 2019-2020 starts soon! ALL currently enrolled students must register April 22 - May 31, 2019 for continued enrollment in the Madison County School System. In order to register current students, you must have a SNAP code which is being mailed to your home address on April 15. Registration for new students also begins on April 22. New students do not need a code to register. PowerSchool registration information and links are under the Registration tab on all MCSS school websites.
The Senior Awards Ceremony is May 8th at 2:00 p.m. in Gym One. Seniors, please turn in all scholarship offers you have received to the College and Career Center as soon as possible.
GRADUATION INFORMATION
Important Information for Seniors 2019 and the End of the Year:
Finals for Seniors will be Tuesday, May 14th through Friday, May 17th. Please check the school calendar on the SHS website for specific exam times.
Your cap/gown fee must be paid prior to receiving your cap, gown, stole, and tassel.
The gowns belong to you; therefore, you will not be returning them.
Please view the Dress Code, Behavior Letter and other Graduation related items on the SHS website.
Honor cords will be sold for $10 following the graduation practice. These are available to students who have a cumulative average for their high school career of 90.0. Please note that an 89.999 will not qualify.
There will be two mandatory graduation practices. The first will be at SHS in gym 1 on Monday, May 20th at 2:00 pm. Students are required to stay the entire practice. The second practice will be at the VBC Arena on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:15 AM. Everyone should be on the arena floor in their seats by 7:30 AM. Students are required to stay for the entire practice.
The Von Braun Center (VBC) doors will open at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, May 21st. Your parents and guests may come at that time. Graduates must be present no later than 1:00 PM.
Each graduate will receive 9 tickets.
Graduation tickets may be picked up in Gym #1 on Monday, May 20th after Graduation Rehearsal when rehearsal concludes.
Every guest requiring a seat must have a ticket for admission into the VBC Arena.
Only the graduate will be allowed to pick up graduation tickets.
*** This information is subject to change: The cost for parking is: City Garage $5 per vehicle, South Hall $10 per vehicle, and North Hall $10 per vehicle. (There will be no charge for parking at the VBC Lot for rehearsal; however, if anyone parks at the City Garage during rehearsal and pays for parking, keep your ticket and you will not be charged for parking in the same area that night.)
The Boy Scout lot is no longer there. $5.00 parking on the City lots and $10.00 on the VBC lots.
Graduation Dress Code is as follows: Black pants, black socks and shoes, white shirt, dark tie for our young men and our young ladies will wear a black dress or black slacks, and black shoes (absolutely NO FLIP FLOPS). Please keep jewelry to a minimum (only small earrings or a watch). See the SHS Graduation Dress Code Flyer for more details. This is located on the SHS website.
Tossing your cap after you’ve been pronounced graduates will be permitted, as long as this privilege is not revoked by the principal.
Be sure all outstanding debts have been taken care of before attempting to pick up your diploma. Outstanding debts include library fees, lost books (textbooks or library books), uniforms, drivers’ education fees, etc. A hold will be placed on your diploma until these debts have been resolved.
Diploma pickup will be will be at the VBC immediately following the commencement ceremony. You will pick up your diploma from your homeroom teacher.
Final transcripts will be requested starting on Wednesday, April 18th during the Senior Meeting by completing and returning a FINAL Transcript Request Form. The last day to make final transcript requests is Friday, April 26. The final transcript request form will be provided for you during the Senior Meeting on April 18th.
Any transcript request after the April 26th date must be completed in MySchoolFees with a $3 fee applied.
As a reminder, if the administration deems that a behavior violation has taken place at graduation, a student will have to complete 40 supervised work hours before receiving their diploma.

We have implemented the Raptor system at Sparkman High School. This new sign in system will scan your drivers license or other acceptable identification and provide the visitor with a printed badge to wear while on campus. Please make sure to have your ID ready the next time you visit. Thank you Madison County Schools for providing this service to ensure our students and staff are safe!
Prom guest forms are now available for pickup outside of Mrs. Fitch’s room (407). Forms must be submitted to the front office no later than May 3 in order to receive administrator approval.
The LAST Day to purchase Prom Tickets is April 30th.
MySchool Fees - Online Payment System to pay for Fees
- Go to https://sparkmanhigh.mcssk12.org/
- Select “Resources”
- Select “MySchoolFees”
- Select “Category”
- Pick “Course” and add to Cart (Repeat as needed)
- Once all categories have been selected, hit “Checkout” button and follow instructions for payment. (Do not check use billing information to create a MySchoolFees.com account)
- Click on who will “own Public Fees” and designate if the funds are for the same recipient or several recipients
- If funds are for the same recipient, identify the recipient by typing in the recipient’s name.
- If funds are for several recipients, identify the recipient by typing in the recipient’s name for each category.
- Submit and continue.
- Follow instructions to checkout

The Sparkman Athletics Department & TOC will be administering athletic physicals on May 6th, 2019.
We encourage all rising 7th-12th grade athletes from Monrovia Middle, Sparkman Middle, Sparkman 9, & Sparkman High School to attend. Physicals will be administered by staff and Doctors from The Orthopedic Center. We encourage all athletes to participate, this helps us insure there will not be a lapse in the physical during the school year that would affect an athletes eligibility.
When: May 6th, 2019

Time: 5:30-7:00
Cost: $10
The $10 fee can be paid online @ My School Fees Athletic Physicals, payment will also be accepted on May 6th
All completed physicals will be good through May 31st, 2020
