The Westwood High School Cybersecurity Team competed in a statewide Cyber Challenge this past week, placing 8th in the state! Many of the teams they competed against throughout this process, were from high schools focused entirely on technology. Congratulations to Patrick Klumpp, Ian Kuappilla, and Kaylin Doney! We are so proud of our Patriots! Way to go!

Over the summer Brad Luce attended Air Force flight school in California. He successfully graduated, completing all 15 hours and he was the first in his class to do a “Solo” flight! Brad also won the “Ray Scholarship” for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Oshkosh, WI, which will cover the cost of completing his pilot’s license, Brad will have his pilot’s license before he graduates this year!

Students who signed up to take the fall SAT or PSAT/NMSQT will test this week. The PSAT/NMSQT will take place on October 25th @ 8:15 am in the cafeteria. The SAT will be held on October 26th at 8:15 a.m. in the media center. If you signed up, please arrive early and ready to test.

The Unity Tree is a symbol reminding everyone that bullying can be prevented when we all come together – united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Creating a Unity Tree is an interactive and hands-on activity, a shared experience in which anyone can participate and everyone can watch the tree grow. Each person contributes their own unique experiences, creative ideas, and strategies by writing positive messages on leaves that are attached to the tree. As the number of leaves increases, it creates a visual reminder, demonstrating that when we are united we can create social change.

Message prompts are:

• If you planted a seed, what would you tell your seed about bullying?
• What can you do to change/impact your school’s culture about bullying?
• How can you support a friend/peer who is being bullied?

There will be a meeting on Wednesday, October 25th at 6:00 p.m. for seniors and their parents interested in helping with the Senior All-Night Party. There is a huge need for volunteers. Voices in Motion will perform "Little Shop Of Horrors" in the Patriot Performing Arts Theater on November 3rd and 4th at 7:00 p.m. and November 5th at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are on sale now in the Westwood High School office.
