Happy New Year Dolphin Family!

I am so excited to welcome each of you back to what is sure to be an EXTRAordinary semester! We have truly missed our scholars and are excited to welcome them back to school. It is my hope that your family enjoyed the much needed break and that our scholars are as eager to start this semester as we are.

Moving into 2020 we are clearly focused on the Vision of Normalized Excellence at Randolph. What does this mean? It simply means we've reflected on our strengths and areas of growth from last semester, we are planning effectively to increase student achievement, focusing on strategy and systems to impact overall school-wide growth, and effectively living our vision as a larger school community. We are Purpose Driven at Randolph Elementary and are committed to its Legacy of Excellence!

I would personally like to thank the parents of Randolph for your continued support throughout first semester. It is because of you that my transition to our extraordinary school has been seamless. You have each been consistent in being present, giving meaningful feedback, and supporting your scholars while also supporting our hardworking staff. For that I am grateful, as our success depends heavily on your presence and support.

Moving forward, it is my hope that more of you will volunteer (give at least one hour of your time), continue to attend our principal's coffee and conversation meetings, and attend PTA and other school events. It is my hope that we will continue to have unfiltered conversations about the things we as a school, and I as a principal, can do to better serve you and your scholar(s). But, most importantly, it is my hope that the partnership between our families and the school remains strong for the betterment of our scholars.

Happy New Year, and thank you for sharing your children with me daily. I love each and every one of them and I am so proud to serve as their principal!

SGC’s Public Comment: Please provide public input on the Digital Learning Day May 19.

Recently, the Fulton County School Board voted to have Digital Learning Days on April 21, 2020 and May 19, 2020. A Digital Learning Day is an opportunity for students to engage in off-site learning instead of attending school. The Board took this action because some Fulton county schools serve as polling locations for the state-wide elections.

As part of the Request for Flexibility (RFF) process, non-polling location schools have the opportunity to have a regular school day on these days. Randolph is requesting to have a digital learning day on April 21, 2020, and a regular school day on May 19, 2020. Randolph Elementary School is not a polling location. Randolph's SGC recommends that Randolph Elementary School has a regular school day and opt out of the Digital Learning Day on May 19, 2020, only. The SGC is soliciting public comments on whether Randolph should opt out of the Digital Learning Day. Randolph's SGC will hold a vote to finalize the RFF in January 2020. What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards and state academic assessments.

The Title I program focuses on the academic needs of the most disadvantaged students.

There are 60 schools operating Title I programs in the Fulton County School System for the 2018-2019 school year.
