American Education Week
Next week is American Education Week, a time to recognize and celebrate public education! Let's take a moment to honor all the hard-working individuals who contribute to educating our students, from bus drivers and classroom teachers to cafeteria workers and administrative staff. As part of this celebration, Talbot County Public Schools will host a Community Listening Session at Chapel District Elementary School on Tuesday, November 14, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., and a school spirit day on Friday, the 17th! Remember to wear your TCPS and school spirit wear!
Veteran's Day
On November 8th, Chapel District and Easton Elementary hosted "Salute to Our Veterans" Programs in honor of Veterans Day. At Chapel District Elementary, students paid tribute to local heroes and had the honor of listening to U.S. Army Master Sergeant Tod D. Sackett as a guest speaker. Master Sergeant Sackett shared his military experiences, including pictures of his missions and travels to different countries. He has deployed three times to combat zones and eight times to other countries in support of other operations. Fifth-grade students at Chapel District also presented thank you letters to the veterans in attendance as part of their service learning project.
At Easton Elementary, the fifth grade also hosted an assembly to honor veterans. A panel of local veterans spoke about military careers, opportunities, and how serving in the military shaped their lives. Specialist Andrew Shaw, US Army, was a guest reader in Ms. Gardner's Kindergarten classroom. We thank all who shared their experiences with the students and helped them understand the importance of military service and honoring our veterans.
Attendance Reminder!
We all know that attendance is key to academic success, but did you know that missing just 2 days a month means a student is missing 10% of the school year!
Easton Elementary's Ukelele Club Performs the Attendance Song!
We love the Easton Elementary Ukelele Club's attendance song! Assistant Principal Lindsay Higginbottom, Community School Coordinator Katie Fox, and Music Teacher Dawn Robinson created the song to help families remember to send an attendance note. Thank you to Easton Elementary's interpreter, Sindy Reyes, for the translation!
TCPS Equity Summit- November 9th!
On November 9, TCPS hosted an Equity Summit, a county-wide professional learning day to engage all certified staff and instructional assistants in deepening their will, skill, and capacity to nurture the potential of all students. The theme of this year's Summit was "Transforming and Performing Each and Every Day."
"The Summit is an opportunity for us to honor the brilliance of all students by encouraging reflection on our current practices and our aspirations for improvements. This includes an examination of the strategies that promote learning and those that may unintentionally impede achievement." Helga Einhorn, Ph.D., Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
Congratulations to EMS Teachers Shawn Leffler and Julie Hawley!

Students will be encouraged to share their creativity with opportunities to win $1000 scholarships. Parents/guardians and students will be invited to register starting September 17. Thank you!
