Denmark Digest
August 2022
Welcome to the 22 - 23 School Year!
I often have parents ask me how to help students acclimate to high school. My advice is always make sure that students participate in all that our campus has to offer. We have a wide range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, fine arts, CTAE and over 70 clubs in which students can find a connection to our campus. My other piece of advice has always been to make sure that students are present for their classes so that they do not get behind in their academic work.
This year, we have revamped tutorials and have named them Dane Time. Starting in September, students will be able to select where they would like to go for Dane Time through our flextime manager app. Twice a month, we will be offering students an opportunity to participate in a connections/wellness activity.
We recognize that you have many options for education in today's society. Thank you for choosing to be a part of Dane Nation. We look forward to working with you this year and hope to see you on our campus soon!

Important Parking Information
Over the summer we had the parking spots in the student parking lot numbered.
Students will be given a parking decal that corresponds with a parking spot number. Students will be required to park in the same spot throughout the year. Numbered spots will help us better recognize who is on our campus. Please inform your child about the changes. Students will be responsible for remembering where their parking spot is located. Spots are assigned, and students will not be allowed to choose a spot. Parents, please make sure you and your child has read and agreed to the Parking Lot Policies for this year. These policies can be found on our DHS Web page. Parking Permit Applications for 2022-2023 School Year are currently being accepted for rising SENIORS and JUNIORS ONLY. We will open parking to 10th grade students on October 3rd.
The Parking Fee is $125 cash or check or $130 on My Payments Plus. We will begin accepting payments on August 1st.Please contact Dawn Brackett (dbrackett@forsyth.k12.ga.us) with additional questions.

Administration and Counseling Pairings for Students
Beginning of the Year Important Information
Check Outs:
Check ins and check outs to school occur through our attendance office. Students are not permitted to simply leave campus; all students must go through the attendance office when leaving campus outside of their regular dismissal times. Please note, students are not permitted to check out after 3:15 PM.
Drop Off Before School / Pick Up After School:
Parents must drop off and pick up students in front of the main entrance both before and after school. The entrance off Fowler Road is reserved for students and teachers with parking permits and our buses. This year, we ask that you arrive no earlier than 3:00 PM to pick up your student after school in the car rider line. During dismissal, if your child is not physically present when you arrive in the pickup line, you will be directed to circle back around the parking lot to keep traffic moving and minimize congestion. Please know that the car rider line is quite long as we start the school year and as everyone figures out how to navigate their mornings. Please look for a detailed Parent Portal messenger later this week.
Drop Off of Items / Deliveries:
Parents are NOT allowed to drop off any items for students, with the exception of prescription medication that is housed in our clinic.
Lockers:
Lockers are available for students to rent for the year. We will rent lockers to students during lunches the first few weeks of school. Students are allowed to select the locker of their choice. We suggest walking the schedule to determine the best place for a locker, keeping in mind that the schedule is not consistent each day.
Payment:
We ask that all parents set up an account with MyPayments Plus if you have not already done so. We prefer online payment in lieu of cash whenever possible, including lunch accounts.
Transportation for students enrolled in FVA / GAVS Part Time, Dual Enrollment, and/or IE2:
Students who are enrolled in FVA / GAVS part-time, Dual Enrollment, and/or IE2, and come to Denmark HS for some of their classes, MUST enter the building through the front doors only. To ensure the safety and well-being of all Denmark HS students, we ask that all students in this situation arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of their first in-person class on Denmark’s campus.
