WELCOME BACK!
The school year is in full swing! We are so happy to have students back in the building and last week was filled with fun activities for Homecoming week! The September newsletter is jam-packed with lots of great information to keep you up-to-date with the happenings in our school. You will find grade specific information below in addition to opportunities and useful information that applies to the whole student body.

Blue Ridge Energy Leadership Track
Blue Ridge Energy's Leadership Track is pleased to announce this unique event – a full day of college workshops and opportunities for all high school students and parents. If you are planning to apply for college and scholarships, this comprehensive event will help you prepare! Parents are also encouraged to attend at no additional charge. Deadline to register: September 30th.
Note: A $25 deposit is required to hold your spot; however, this will be reimbursed at the event.

Be a Student Election Assistant
General Overview
In 2003, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a law allowing high school students to work in the polls on election day. Student Election Assistants carry some of the same responsibilities as election officials and are compensated in the same way.
Qualifications
To qualify, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen who will be at least 17 years old by election day and who resides in the precinct where they wish to serve. Applicants must be in good academic standing with the school where they are enrolled (including public, private and home schools). They must also have permission from a parent (or guardian/legal custodian) and from their school principal/director.

Paid at $9/hour from hours worked on election day between 6am to 8:30pm

PowerSchool is a Student Information System management platform used across the state of North Carolina. This online system houses information about students' grades, schedules, and more. At Watauga High School and Watauga Innovation Academy, PowerSchool is used to integrate all of the information important to your student's education in one place in order to provide a seamless experience for students and families. To create a Parent Portal account, contact Student Services.
