Attention: Chippewa Valley Virtual Academy Parents
The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges to K-12 education this school year. One of the ways CVS met that challenge was the creation of the Chippewa Valley Virtual Academy (CVVA).
Our plan is to continue the virtual academy as long as the need and demand are there. One of the ways we do that is to have sufficient enrollment to be able to offer a wide range of classes. Limited enrollment will limit the courses potentially offered.
If you know you want your child to learn remotely next year, we encourage you to sign up by the May 9th deadline. Otherwise, our plan for the next school year is to have all students in school, participating in face-to-face learning. If you do not sign your child up for the CVVA, they will automatically be scheduled for in-person learning.
We understand that making this decision in May for the fall may seem a bit daunting as a parent. However, it is necessary for the district to plan which classes will be available, recruit the number of CVS instructors needed to teach each course, and build appropriate schedules based on the needs of our students. This scheduling process is extremely complex and time-consuming, and cannot be done in a short period of time. This process has already begun for the 2021-22 school year.
Deciding whether your child should attend school in-person or virtually is a highly personal decision. As you prepare to make this enrollment decision, we are available to answer any questions you may have. To assist you, we have developed a Q&A document and information regarding enrollment on our website. Please visit the CV Virtual Academy page for more information. Keep in mind that enrollment in the CVVA is a year-long commitment.
Please consider the initial reasons why you chose the CVVA for your child, and if those same conditions exist, you may want to re-enroll in the CVVA for the 2021-2022 school year. It is also important to reflect on whether or not your child was able to keep up with their academics and experienced success in the CVVA this school year.
We do not want you to miss out on this high-quality, online education opportunity. Other virtual education programs do not offer the same highly qualified, district teachers and personalized instruction that the CVVA offers. The deadline for enrollment is May 9th.
We want to thank you for being a part of our first-ever virtual academy program for CVS students this year. Together, we think we have laid the groundwork for many exciting things to come.
Thank you.
