ESC Region 11 CTE
A Note from Lisa
Hello, CTE Family.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Pathways to Texas CCMR Summit last week. We were excited by the number of participants who engaged in a plethora of breakout sessions and heard from our two wonderful keynote speakers!
If you have friends or colleagues who need to receive the information coming out of the ESC Region 11 CTE Listserv, direct them here to join. Remember that we have ongoing leadership support through the "CTE Coffee & Conversation" sessions, where you can collaborate, share best practices, and work through struggles and barriers. Stay connected with your peers for both your work and your mental health support.
As the week of Thanksgiving quickly approaches, I would like to extend warm wishes to you and your families for a healthy, safe, and relaxing holiday!
Lisa

CTE Coffee & Conversation
This is an opportunity for CTE Leadership to work through local needs in a peer forum. We all need a Professional Learning Network, and CTE Coffee & Conversation meetings provide just that. This began as a COVID-19 support, but has worked so well in our region that we have decided to continue offering it into the future.

Helpful information straight from TEA!
Is the agency going to stop using TSDS PEIMS military data?
TSDS PEIMS military data WILL NOT BE used to award funding or generate a future academic accountability rating. Beginning with 2021 accountability ratings, TSDS PEIMS military enlistment data will not be included.
If the agency uses the Class of 2019 for any future accountability purpose, the TSDS PEIMS military data will be removed from CCMR calculations. If military source data are obtained before 2021 accountability ratings are issued, the agency will use source data for accountability ratings.
SEE MORE HERE:
TEA recently posted a Use of Military Enlistment Data FAQ to provide additional clarification on common military enlistment questions as well as a one-pager comparing CCMR accountability requirements to CCMR OB requirements on the Performance Reporting Resources webpage.
Geographical Information Systems
I have recently reconnected with some of my past colleagues in GIS (Geographical Information Systems). They have an awesome opportunity to participate in a contest and need a Texas group to take the lead for the state. It is open to both high school and middle school.
Here is a map of all the schools that offer GIS in the state: https://arcg.is/usk12gis
Information:
Hello friends of GIS in schools and youth clubs! Will your state participate in the ArcGIS Online Competition for US HS+MS Students? Starting information and updated map are at https://esriurl.com/agoschoolcomp; the full national information has the state leadership form. Especially in the first year, leaders ask what to post online, and when; teachers need only know these items to start:
- [State] is participating in the national event
- Starting info (link above) plus [State website] and [State email]
- [State] submission dates for "student to school" and "school to state"
- Any special [State] theme
- Any special [State] registration info
These are the essential elements, and if a state expects to participate, that information should be posted and publicized ASAP. Additional "support info" helps, and states vary widely in what they offer, but it can be provided whenever, from whatever address. Especially this year, it will help teachers to know as soon as possible if the state will participate. State application deadline is November 30; submissions by November 13 earn a special email from Esri.
