Hemenway PTO
Welcome to the Hemenway Elementary PTO newsletter!
Our 2023-2024 year is in full-swing!
We had a great BOGO Scholastic Book Fair and are so thankful for everyone who volunteered their time to ensure the kids had a great event choosing their summer reading!
Thank you to all who helped make Field Day a success last week! We truly appreciate the flexibility with the rain date. Kids and adults both enjoyed the jumping, running, bouncing, and of course: the popsicles! We can't wait to do it again next year!
The finish line of June 18th is in sight! Hope you have a wonderful end to the school year. Keep scrolling to stay up-to-date on the events and ways to volunteer.
Please email us at anytime (hemenwayschoolpto@gmail.com) if you are interested in volunteering for events or have any ideas & feedback to share with the PTO.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Brunch, Bubblies, and Bouquets
We are preparing a beautiful spread for the teachers to enjoy brunch and build a bouquet as our final token of appreciation for their hard work this school year. Please sign up below to donate a bread item (storebought is fantastic!), fruit, or flowers (or all 3!). We will collect donations at the picnic on the 13th and on the morning of the 14th.
Note: We will gladly accept any style of bouquets: mixed, all-of-one-kind, ferns, eucalyptus--anything is great!
Composting Initiative
We are proposing a transformative initiative at Hemenway Elementary School – a composting program in collaboration with Energize Framingham. This environmentally conscious effort aims to shrink our school's footprint, fostering eco-friendly habits in our children while providing invaluable educational experiences. Drawing inspiration from the successful Cafeteria composting program at Dunning Elementary, where daily trash dramatically decreased from 12 to 2 bags, we anticipate a positive ripple effect on our community. Let's sow the seeds of sustainability together!
For more information on energize Framingham and their collaboration with Dunning Elementary School please check out their latest newsletter

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
READ AT THE HEMENWAY LIBRARY
Did you know that you can volunteer to read at the Hemenway Library during your child's scheduled library class time? First you will need to have a current CORI on file (see instructions below). Then it's just as easy as emailing our wonderful school Library Media Specialist Karen Rothwell at krothwell@framingham.k12.ma.us. She can tell you the time that your child's class meets and what days to come in. It's a quick and super fun way to volunteer!
SPIRIT WEAR
Hemenway Tigers Spirit Wear
Want to showcase your school spirit and support the PTO by wearing some great gear! Through our partnership with SquadLocker we have a great online store with shirts, hoodies, shorts, pants, outwear, bags, and other accessories. These make excellent Holiday gifts as well. Partial proceeds benefit the Hemenway PTO. Just click on Stripes the Tiger to start shopping!
