A Note From....
The cold, snow and ice that we have experienced over the past three weeks has been difficult. Our preference is always that we go to school and we realize that this much time off can be challenging for families. Each time the decision to close school is considered, the area superintendents, transportation directors and the county road commission officials discuss the potential for hazardous driving conditions. As superintendents, we collectively make the decision weighing all of the information available, including the fact that we have many new young drivers at our high schools. In our county, we share many resources including busing and career technology classes so it is important that unless the risk is localized the decision is made together. If the risk is too great, the decision will be made to close school for the day. The decision to call a snow day is always made based on what is in the best interest of students’ safety and welfare and is never made lightly. We miss our students when they are not in school.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding, hopefully the worst of this season’s weather is behind us.

News from Riverview East High School
Riverview East: A true learning community
Riverview East High School relies heavily on our community in order to create meaningful, relevant learning experiences. Through a strong network of volunteers and community partnerships, we strive to make connections between what is taught in the classroom and what students experience in the real world. You will often find community volunteers in the classroom sharing their skills and passions or working with students in small groups helping them discover their own talents. In return, Riverview East students frequently develop projects that give back to the communities they live in. We are grateful for the continued support of our local businesses, organizations, families, and friends for helping us create a dynamic learning environment that is centered around our mission of creating fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens.
If you or someone you know would benefit from this unique educational experience, contact Jason Stier at 810-676-1280. Riverview East High School is currently enrolling for 3rd Trimester.
