VISITORS UPDATE
Typically, we would welcome visitors into our building for meetings, conversation and getting to know our families. During this pandemic, in continuation of our health and safety protocols, the VALERIUS Office will be CLOSED to visitors. This means there will be no entrance into the building. Please buzz the door and someone will assist you.
If you would like assistance or to meet with a counselor or administrator, please schedule an appointment with our office staff for a virtual meeting. We will not be able to accommodate any drop-in visits.
If your student becomes ill at school, they must first visit the health office and Nurse Jenny will call the parent to arrange for pick up if needed. For pick up, you would buzz in at the door with a mask on, and your student will be walked to the door. We are not allowing any visitors in the building.
If your child needs to leave school during the day we request that you call in the morning to let us know the departure time and the reason for leaving. If you need to deliver anything to your student during the day, please label the item with the student’s name before bringing it to Valerius and buzz the intercom to let Miss Angie know that you have left something there.
Thank you for your support during this pandemic.

LUNCHBOXES
AT HOME LEARNING EXPECTATIONS
Please note that as we begin the school year “at-home” learning will evolve as routines, expectations, and technology is taught to our students during their in-person school days. Teachers will be planning purposeful activities and practice that students can do on their at-home days. Because teachers will be providing intensive instruction to students on the days they are in school, the activities and practice at home will take place asynchronously (independent, at student’s own time/pace) to complement and enhance the instruction students receive at school. The guidelines below show you what to expect in terms of a time commitment for these activities each day (K-2 Grades lower end of the time range; 3-5 Grades upper end of time range):
Reading 45-60min/day
Writing 10-20 min/day
Math 30-45 min/day
Science/Social Studies 15-20min/day
As we start, you should expect students to bring an “At Home Learning Plan” checklist along with paper/pencil tasks. We will gradually introduce SeeSaw, an online learning platform, for students to complete at-home learning tasks. We have purchased additional online tools Dreambox, myLexia, and Razkids to provide differentiated practice for each student in the areas of reading and mathematics. Each of these tools will be gradually introduced in person and then utilized at home.
