Cobb Science
August News and Notes
This Year, Go for the Gold!
Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year! We're so glad you're part of our Cobb science team! We're at an exciting crossroads as we prepare to implement the new Cobb Teaching and Learning Standards for Science, also known as the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Science. While you will continue to teach the GPS standards this year, we'll be providing you with a plethora of information and training opportunities to learn about what science instruction will look like using the new standards starting next year (2017-2018). We also encourage you to "go for the gold" by implementing rigorous, hands-on science instruction through the use of PBLs, case studies, STEM challenges, or other inquiry-based methods.
Your Cobb science leadership team includes:
Dr. Tom Brown- K-12 Science Supervisor
Tracy Matthews- K-12 Science Professional Learning Specialist
Cyndi Freeman- Title I Science Coach
Sherry Martin- Title I Science Coach
Please reach out to us if you ever have questions, need resources, or desire professional learning at your school.
