Wrangler Weekly
Week of January 8, 2024
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
This was definitely a fast, exciting week!
Our girls had their last basketball game, we welcomed all of next year's sixth graders to campus for a tour, our students all enjoyed the "fresh start" of a new semester, and our cheer team is hosting their contest "show off" tonight at 6:30 PM (all are welcome, by the way!).
Also this week, we met with each grade level separately during Wrangler Time. Our counselors reviewed tips for academic success and administration outlined expectations, giving reminders on behavior, tardies, no phone policy, and ID expectations. Students are required to wear IDs at all times. Students choosing to have IDs in their pockets rather than around their neck on a lanyard, as required, will have an ID infraction. Students get 10 ID infractions a semester -- that's forgetting their ID or choosing not to wear it. With 10 ID infractions comes an email home and a lunch detention. If your student needs a new ID, they can purchase one for 5 dollars.
Report cards are currently available in Skyward -- please be sure to log in and review. If your student did not pass a class for Semester 1, they can average pass for the year. The grades from SM1 and SM2 must average to a 70 to earn credit. Please reach out to your child's counselor or teacher if you have questions. Our updated teacher tutorial list is below. Please encourage your student to attend tutorials BEFORE they even reach a crisis point.
Finally, today was our Rising Wranglers event. I want to say how proud I was of our students -- they showcased SBMS beautifully. Our students gave performances and informative speeches about various electives and provided guided tours through the building -- it was ALL fantastic. We are so proud of our programs and the leaders they are building.
Go Wranglers!
