October 17, 2023
Dear Cirby Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy spirits as we approach the midpoint of October. It's hard to believe how quickly this school year is moving along but it's wonderful to witness the enthusiasm for learning and the positive energy on the Cirby campus.
Parent teacher conference are coming soon. Please make sure to schedule yours with your child's teacher if you have not done so already. If you need a translator, please let your teacher know so we can accommodate you. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity to discuss your child's progress and to celebrate their successes.
Don't forget that our Fall Harvest is coming up on Friday, October 27th. See the flyer below! It's going to be SPOOKtacular! Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Dinner Night Out at Dairy Queen. We raised over $140 to put toward our school! Yay, great job team!
Our top priorities remain school safety and attendance. We continue to follow all protocols regarding our drills. It's always better to practice and never use it than to never practice and need it! Also, please continue having your students arrive at school on time. Even a few minutes a day can add up.
Below is the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) testing information for those families interested in having their student, grades 3-5 take this test in January.
Again, thank you for partnering with us in your child's education. Thank you for your continued support. We are excited every day to see their growth academically and personally.
Warmly,
Farah Friend | Principal

When is sick too sick for school?
There are times when children need to miss school due to typical childhood illnesses. However, when many health issues are managed, we can reduce the amount of time children are out of school.
My child isn’t feeling 100% – can they attend school?
Send me to school if…
- I have a runny nose or just a little cough, but no other symptoms.
- I haven’t taken any fever-reducing medicine for 24 hours, and I haven’t had
- a fever during that time.
- I haven’t thrown up or had any diarrhea for 24 hours.
Keep me at home if…
- I have a temperature higher than 100 degrees even after taking medicine.
- I’m throwing up or have diarrhea.
- My eyes are pink and crusty.
Call the doctor if…
- I have a temperature higher than 100 degrees for more than two days.
- I’ve been throwing up or have diarrhea for more than two days.
- I’ve had the sniffles for more than a week, and they aren’t getting better.
- I still have asthma symptoms after using my asthma medicine (and call 911 if I’m having trouble breathing after using an inhaler).
