Teachers Paid Union Meeting
On behalf of our NZEI teaching staff I’d like to say a big thank you for your cooperation and support regarding Wednesday’s earlier than usual finish. This allowed our union staff members to discuss, dissect and clarify their thinking around the latest offer. We will hear within the next few days which way the teachers as a collective across the country have voted.

Huge Thank you to fonterra
A HUGE thank you to Fonterra for their very generous sponsorship. Our students are loving utilising the EPRO8 Kit and the JBL PartyBox to run our Radio Station. Kapa Haka are also using the JBL PartyBox to practise outdoors.
Life education - Team Ruru
Students in the Team Ruru have spent 3 hours in the Life Education mobile classroom learning about substances. The purpose of the programme was to provide students with factual information to enable them to make better decisions.
Some of the areas we explored included,
The definition of a drug – a chemical substance that affects the way the body and/or brain work.
We used this definition to explore how common substances affect the brain and body.
We explored some of the reasons why young people choose to experiment with substances.
We explored some of the issues around vaping and alcohol in some depth.
We looked at the anatomy of the brain and how substances change this.
We looked at some of the consequences of drug addiction and impacts that
methamphetamine can have on the health system, whanau, the community, and individuals.
The students also had their last chance to hang with Harold the Giraffe and have some fun!
A big thank you to both the school and community for supporting the work the Life Education does with Tamariki in our region.
