Term 1 is "in the books" - we applaud all of the students and their hard work! We are tickled with the success so many of our students had with their first experience in middle school. To access your student's report card, log into the Infinite Campus parent/student portal, open Documents in the menu, then click Report Card. Also, they are emailed to parents the end of each term (term 1 report cards were emailed home the week of Oct 23rd.

Spring Canyon Middle School students and teachers would like to honor the veterans in our lives through a wall of honor. Please use black ink to fill in the brick below for any special veteran or serviceperson (alive or deceased). The bricks will be used to build a wall of honor to honor our veterans.

Pictures (not required) may be attached and will not be returned. They will be put together with other “bricks.” Please do not send your only copy of a picture. Please use a separate piece of paper for each veteran (not front – back).

Early detection and treatment of diabetes can decrease the risk of developing the complications of diabetes. If you notice any of the symptoms please get medical care.

We have so many fun intramurals planned this year! They can be found on our school's website under the "Intramurals" tab. November intramurals include: Math Club (starting Nov 1) and the Christmas Symphonic (combined band/orchestra) Group starting after Thanksgiving. Check the website for permission slips and for the Intramurals. We also have paper copies available in the front office.

Math Club:

Come join Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Taylor in the math club! If you love puzzles, math, projects, math, designing, and math, then you have found your group. We will also be preparing a math team to compete in a Nebo math tournament on December 9th. The tournament includes teams from each middle school and junior high in our district.

Times / Dates: Wednesdays and Thursdays in November (1,2,8,9,15,16,29,30 and Dec 6,7) from 3:15-3:45 p.m.

If they have not been paid yet, school fees need to be paid ASAP! You can do so by contacting the finance office at 801-609-2400, or you can go SCMS.

Research shows that attendance is a very important factor in student achievement! Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. Poor attendance has serious implications for later outcomes. Everyone here at Spring Canyon Middle School wants the students to be as successful as possible. We enjoy seeing the kids each day and are sad when they are gone.

Are you ready for Battle of the Books? This is a completely voluntary program which encourages students to read good books and have fun while competing with other students. students form a team consisting of two to six members. The team is responsible for reading all 24 books on the Battle of the Books list. In late winter, teams will compete by answering questions about each of the 20 books. The team with the highest score will represent Spring Canyon at the district Battle of the Books competition. Meetings have started. We had over 100 students sign up!

There will be a Tiny Concert during lunch in the library on Wednesday, November 29. Any student interested in performing a talent (singing, karaoke, any musical instrument, dance, recitation, etc.) can sign up in the library any time prior to that date.

Just a reminder that Infinite Campus is the best place to look to check your child's grades. Now that we're entering into Term 2, please check grades regularly. Canvas is where many of your student's assignments will be posted for them to complete, but Infinite Campus will be where to check the grades. If you have questions about a class, please reach out to reach out to that specific teacher.

The counselor's at SCMS will start holding 7th grade CCRP's (College and Career Readiness Plan). This is an individual meeting with the student, parent/guardian, and counselor. In the CCRP, they will be discussing Jr. High transition, student goals, and next step planning. The CCRP's will begin the week of November 15th, and go until December 8th. You can sign up for an appointment by clicking on the councilors name below according to your students councilor (Your students councilor is determined by your last name:

Mrs. Robbins dance 2 class will be preforming at the Springville High School Dance Concert November 30th. (TBD on the time)

Please note that students in both our Chinese and Spanish Dual-Immersion classes will be talking the AAPPL test during the month of November. The AAPPL test is administered every Fall and assesses each student's language proficiency. Our teachers will share specifics with parents for each grade/class in regards to testing day specifics as well as results when they are available.

We sure appreciate our Student Leadership Class! They are hosting the following school spirit days. Join! us for some fun dress-up days!

Fri, Nov 10 - School Spirit Shirts or Colors (navy & gray) ALSO on this day thanks to our wonderful PTA Fundraiser our students earned 10 min. extra for both lunches AND anything but a backpack day

A couple of our own SCMS students are available to tutor anybody who needs a homework / assignment boost - they are top-notch kids and would love to be utilized. If you are interested, contact the main office for their contact information.
