Principal's Message
Dear NAMS families,
As we welcome the month of December, we want to remind you of some important upcoming events at our school. Our students will be taking the MAP assessments today, December 5th and Thursday, 7th, so please make sure they are well-rested and prepared for these tests. We appreciate your support in ensuring that our students have the best possible chance for success.
In addition to the MAP assessments, we have a number of exciting events and activities planned for the month of December. From the Seussical Jr. Crew information session and audition workshop to the Black History Month Auditions, we have a lot of opportunities for our students to get involved and showcase their talents. We will also have our winter music concerts featuring our choirs, orchestras, and bands. Date and time information for all of these events are listed below in this newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and our students. We look forward to a successful and productive month ahead.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin L. Freeman Sr.
Principal, New Albany Middle School

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminder
It is important to remember that when dropping off your students in the morning, we use a single line drop-off system. This means that no cars should be passing other cars in the drop-off line. Also, students should not be dropped off in the parking lot. It is crucial for the safety of our children and staff members that we follow this procedure to ensure that everyone arrives at school safely. Thank you for your cooperation.
Book Challenge Update
NAMS students have been reading. At the beginning of October, we started our book reading challenge. To date students have read a total of 350,878 pages! Please remind your child to keep reading and recording their progress, as we appreciate your support in fostering a culture of reading at NAMS.
Cell Phone, Ear Pod/Headphone Update
We have shared this cell phone & ear pod reminder with our students this week. We appreciate your support in helping ensure that students are focused on learning.
Counselor's Corner
Every quarter, students will be completing Career Education activities in Schoolinks during Study Center. Activities roughly take between 5 to 10 minutes and focus on everything from learning styles to learning about their character traits and top skills and for our 8th graders, starting to have them think about how to get the most out of high school!

NAMS PTO News
Happy December,
I can't believe we are so close to winter break. We have had a great first half of the year and I am excited about all there is to come in the new year.
Our librarian, Ms Kellett along with Mr Freeman have been hard at work on a reading contest between the 7th and 8th graders. Each week they check in and Ms Kellet awards certain readers from each grade level a prize. Her current stash is running low and we would love your help. All you have to do is click this amazon link and the candy will be shipped directly to the NAMS library. Simple and easy. Who doesn't want to reward our kids for reading? I know I do!
Spring Dance: our next dance will be Friday, April 12th! More details will follow soon.
It is never too late to sign up to become a member of the PTO. Click here for more information on how to join!
Thank you for all you do to help make NAMS so great!
