Note from the Counselors about Groups
Note from the School Counselors about Small Groups:
Welcome back to all of our students! We are excited to start some small groups this semester (please refer to the winter break newsletter for more information). Unfortunately, when the form was first sent out the settings did not allow for responses from outside of the district email addresses. The issue has been resolved and we are excited for students to be signed up for these exciting opportunities! Please sign up on this form by January 10th for priority consideration.
PTA Meeting TONIGHT, 1/8/2024
PTA meeting for Gahanna Middle School East is tonight at 7 pm in the library. All are welcome to attend!
Opening of the New Wing
We are THRILLED to be moving into the new classrooms! Students helped to move many teachers into their new classrooms in December. The classrooms are beautiful and the students and staff loved to finally get in! There will be an open house for the public if anyone would like to see the addition on Wednesday, January 24 from 5 - 6 pm.
6th Grade Update
- Scheduling for 2024-25 school year: Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Uniacke will be visiting current 6th grade students to go over 7th grade scheduling information beginning on Friday, 1/12 during ELA classes. Class options and other information will be provided to students and parents following the visits. *Course requests will be due electronically by Friday, 1/19.
- Sixth grade desperately needs boxes of tissues! Please send in a box if you are able because we requested less at the beginning of the year due to space constraints/construction. Thanks in advance!
- Our book signature policy will be slightly adjusted this semester- two book signatures in a week (rather than 3) will result in an after-school detention. Book signatures are given for not meeting expectations of being respectful, ready, or responsible and can be viewed by parents/guardians in Infinite Campus under “documents.” Your child is aware when they receive a book signature.
- Mr. Barboza and Ms Hilbert reviewed expectations with students on Friday in gold period. Mr. Barboza also motivated students to increase their independence through responsible choices. He reiterated the importance of treating others with respect as well as “keeping nice things nice.” In other words, respect our classrooms, especially with all of the renovations.
7th Grade Update
- Scheduling for 2024-25: Mrs. Uniacke and Mrs. Williams will be visiting current 7th grade students to go over 8th grade scheduling options beginning on Thursday, 1/18 during math classes. Class options and other detailed information will be provided to students and parents following the visits. Course requests will be due electronically by Wednesday, 1/24.
- 7th ELA emailed a letter about our new research unit. Check your email for details!
- Math 7 has a quiz on percents this Friday!
8th Grade Update
New year, new goals! Remind your students to start the year off strong and stay on top of their work.
Math classes are sending home a letter to talk about Honors Algebra 1. Please have your student return by Tuesday, January 16th if your child opts in for Honors Algebra 1.
We will still happily take any Kleenex donations you can provide! Thanks in advance for your generosity.
