Join one (or more) live Zoom session focused on the elective area of your choice to learn more and ask questions. In each 20-minute session, there will be a brief presentation, followed by Q & A. Join as many as you would like and stay for as long as you need to get your question(s) answered! Learn More About the Mentor Program at EVHS, 1/31
College and career planning to do? Mentor Program information meeting for parents and students of current 10th and 11th graders. This meeting will be on Tuesday, January 31st at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons. Presentation first with Q & A’s to follow. Meeting to provide assistance with the upcoming registration process.
Semester 2 Parking Permits
Spring permits went on sale on January 4th. Purchased Spring Permits may be picked up during lunch on Thursday, January 26th and Friday, 27th. Payment of $120 must be submitted along with the online application. Any/all outstanding fees/fines must be paid in full in order to receive a parking permit; book fines can be paid or returned in the Learning Commons and other fees/fines may be paid online or in person at the Eastview High School Main Office.
FREE PARKING
Parking permits are optional. There is free parking available for students in the lot near the tennis courts south of EVHS. (Winner Lot) 😁
PSEO PARKING PERMITS
Students taking three or more PSEO courses during the school day may be able to purchase a parking permit at a discounted rate. Contact Mr. Habeck in student services for more information.
Permits can be picked up in the EVHS Learning Commons during lunch periods on Thursday and Friday, January 26 and 27.
Parking permits are optional. There is free parking available for students in the lot near our tennis courts, south of EVHS.
Interested in Joining Eastview's National Honor Society for 2023-2024?
Current sophomores and current juniors are eligible to complete a Candidate Form. It is strongly encouraged that the eligible candidate have a cumulative 3.8 GPA or higher.
Optional informational meetings will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:10 AM OR 2:30 PM in C232. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to attend ONE of the meetings.

FCCLA STAR Event - Recycle Your Plastic Bags
FCCLA members are doing a sustainability STAR event and are collecting plastic bags. They have put a box (Home Depot-decorated) similar to this one in front of the sanitation stations in each cluster office to collect any plastic bags you, your friends or neighbors might be wanting to get rid of.

“Raise the roof!” We are excited to announce a fundraising event for EVHS Boys Basketball. “Tip-off” is January 30, 2023, from 5-8 pm at Red’s Savoy Pizza in Apple Valley (15050 Cedar Avenue, Apple Valley)!

EVCF Looking For Volunteers
The Eastview Community Foundation is looking for volunteer readers to help with this year’s senior scholarship application selection process. It takes a lot of volunteers to give away $100,000 to our EVHS seniors! Training will be provided, followed by independent reading and scoring of student essays. Essays will be reviewed from February 5 – February 25. Parents/guardians of seniors from the Class of 2023 are not eligible due to potential conflict of interest. Need a Previous EVHS Yearbook?
The EVHS Library has an archive of yearbooks which are kept to chronicle our history. In addition, we have also received extra copies over the years that have not been picked up or used for other purposes. It is time to downsize these extra copies. Do you have a grad who didn’t get a yearbook or know a neighbor who would appreciate the memories? You can find a complete list of extra copies available here listed by year. If you would like to request one of these copies, please email evhs.learningcommons@apps.district196.org and we will set the copy aside for you to pick up. Feel free to share the link with anyone who may be interested. All books can be picked up at Eastview High School during school hours.

EVHS All-Night Senior Party Tickets On Sale Now!
Graduating seniors are invited to attend the 2023 All-Night Senior Party, a chemical free, lock-in which takes place the night of graduation, Saturday June 3rd, 2023 from 10:00 pm – 4:00am at EVHS.
Each year the All-Night Senior Party is a highlight for the graduating seniors with at least 80% of the class attending. This is an “Everything Included” night of fun! Entertainment, Food, Prizes, Games, Casino, and MORE! It is the place to be on graduation night! In early 2023, there will be a party kick-off event during the school day, where the theme of the party will be revealed to the senior class!

Ready, Set, FAFSA Series, February 2023
This February, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC's The College Place Minnesota, and Minnesota Goes to College are launching a series of financial aid webinars for Minnesota students and families as they prepare for the college-going process. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees will be entered to win a $500 scholarship.
The series, which runs February 7 through 28, will focus on a variety of topics, including general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.

UPCOMING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY VISITS
Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

New: Baseball Open Gym Times
Anyone interested in playing baseball this spring is welcome to come workout at Open Gym in the Main and South Gyms at EVHS on the following Sunday nights:

Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Eagan Wildcats – January 20, 2023
The Lightning suffered a difficult 3-2 loss on Friday evening at the Apple Valley Sports Arena. They played a dominant 1st period outshooting the Wildcats 16-5 but were down 2-1. Eagan opened the scoring at 9:38 on a wrist shot that beat goalie Jay Svaren #32 5 hole for a 1-0 lead. Eastview tied the score a few minutes later at 13:43 when Tanner Kronberg #17 beat the Eagan goalie top shelf glove side with an assist to Jordan Brothers #11. Eagan regained the lead at 14:58 after the Lightning turned the puck over at the blue line and Wildcats buried a rebound on an odd man rush making it 2-1 Wildcats. There was no scoring in the 2nd period, with Eastview outshooting Eagan 8-5. Eastview tied the game 2-2 in the 3rd period at 4:01 when John Kisch #5, back from injury, scored from the slot on a nice shot, assists to Jordan Brothers #11 and Zach Wooten #9. After an extremely questionable tripping call on Logan Opgrand #2, the Wildcats scored the eventual game winner on the power play (PP) at 10:34 of the 3rd period. Despite a huge push to tie the game, the game ended 3-2 in favor of the Wildcats, their first conference win of the season. Shot for the 3rd period were 9-6 for the Wildcats, final shots for the game were 30-19 in favor of Eastview. The Lightning fell to 9-6 on the season and face off against Farmington on Tuesday night on the road.
Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Shakopee Sabers – January 16, 2023
A holiday tilt with the Lightning trying to make it 2 wins in a row. The Lightning started fast on a breakaway at just 38 seconds into the game, when Tanner Kronberg #17 scored with an assist from Logan Opgrand #2 for an early 1-0 lead. Eastview went up 2-0 at 4:12 on the power play (PP) when Calen Nelson #20 tipped a shot home from the point, assists going to Nick Karam #16 and Kevin Woehler #24. The Sabers struck back at 7:44 and 11:35 of the period to tie it up 2-2. Shots for the 1st period were 9-7 for the Lightning. Eastview opened the scoring in the 2nd at 4:40, an even strength goal by Zach Wooten #9, assists going to Charlie Ortman #26 and Calen Nelson #20, making it 3-2. Eastview scored the only other goal of the 2nd period at 10:34 when Zach Wooten #9 scored his second of the period, with assists to Tanner Kronberg #17 and Charlie Ortman #26, making it 4-2. Shots for the 2nd period were 13-11 for the Lightning. Eastview really poured it on in the 3rd period, outshooting the Sabers 16-4 and scoring two times to make the final score 6-2. The Lightning scored two power play (PP) goals, one early at 52 seconds (Charlies Ortman #16 from Nick Karam #16 and Zach Wooten #9), and one late at 13:17 (Logan Opgrand #2 with the lone assist to Charlie Ortman #26). Final shots for the game were 38-22 in favor the Lightning. Eastview improved to 9-5 with the win and play Eagan at home on Friday. Another strong game by goalie Jay Svaren #32.
Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Apple Valley Burnsville Eagles – January 14, 2023
The Lightning ended a three game losing streak with a dominant performance against the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles opened the scoring just over a minute into the game on a breakaway. The Lightning tied the game up 1-1 at 12:16 when Charlie Ortman #26 scored on a nice pass in the slot from Zach Wooten #9 and Jordan Brothers #11. The 1st period ended 1-1 with the Eastview leading in shots 7-6. Eastview opened the scoring in the 2nd period early at 22 seconds when Logan Opgrand #2 scored with assists to Jordan Brothers #11 and Zach Wooten #9, making it 2-1. Eastview made it 3-1 at 10:13 on the power play (PP) when Jordan Brothers #11 scored with assists to Charlie Ortman #26 and Reed Ellingson #14. Eastview scored again less than a minute later at 10:47 when Billy Downs #23 scored an even strength goal with an assist to Graham Ellingson #22, making it 4-1. Shots in the 2nd period were 15-9 in favor of the Lightning. No scoring in the 3rd period with Eastview outshooting the Eagles 10-4, and 32-19 for the game. The Lightning improved to 8-5 on the season. Next up Shakopee on Monday, MLK Jr. Day, a game rescheduled because of weather.
Varsity Wrestling
Congratulations to the Eastview Wrestling team on competing in the tough Lightning Invitational last weekend. Nolan Enderlein took 1st Place, Ezra Formaneck 2nd Place, Aiden Enderlein 4th, Landon Odegard 4th, Alex Baccoli 4th, and Jack Bauer took 5th place. The Lightning take on conference foe Lakeville North at home on Thursday for Senior Night.
JV SPORTS
Eastview High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball beat Rosemount High School 54-39 1/18
The JV Girls beat Rosemount by a score of 54-39 last night to remain undefeated. The team is 6-0 in the conference and 12-0 overall.
Eastview JV Boys Hockey vs. Eagan – January 20th, 2023
JV earned a hard fought OT win over Eagan 3-2 last Friday night. Michael Cherevatsky scored in the 2nd period with an assist from Jaymeson Zackery to get the Lightning on the score board. Eastview pulled the goalie with 15 seconds left in the 3rd period and Owen Iikubo tied the game 2-2 with another assist from Jameson Zackery. Jaymeson Zackery capped off a 3 point night with the game winning goal with 1.7 seconds left in overtime. Kaden Goff was outstanding in goal stopping 41 shots for the win. The Eastview Boys play tonight against Farmington at Schmitz-Maki Arena. Game time for JV is 5pm.
JV Wrestling
This weekend the Lightning Wrestling team hosted the Lightning Invite with 15 teams attending. The Lightning crowned 4 Champions in the JV portion of the tournament. Winning all of they matches on the day were Senior Dillion Laundrie, Sophomore Logan Oster, and Freshmen Aiden Frost and Marcus McKinley. Placing second was Aryan Karimnejad, Kayan Karimnejad, Brock Taylor, Eli Zillhardt, Kian Ghobadi, and Damien Mogere. Third Place finishers were Emanuel Anderson, Juan Gonzalez, Austin Finne, Jack McNeely, and Saqib Kanwar.

Girls Golf Info Meeting
Interested in playing Girls Golf this spring? We take players at all skill levels. Join us for Captain’s Practices at The Cages on Sundays from 2-4.
