The Weekly Update #4
September 14th, 2022

Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):
We have had such a wonderful start to the '22-'23 school year! I have had the pleasure of returning to prior routines - visiting classrooms throughout the week; meeting up with students in the hallways and after school; spending time with our staff - it may have taken a couple of years to navigate the pandemic, but that has only made the return to these types of activities so much more rewarding!
We have a number of events upcoming in our District. Please take some time to read through our newsletter to learn more about the many exciting things planned. Our strong, collaborative partnership with our learning community is one of the things that defines us and makes us special - I am so thankful for this support.
I hope that September is wonderful for you all - I look forward to seeing you throughout the month!
Be Well!
Dr. J.

School Safety and Security
As we have shared in prior communication, we have taken a number of steps to help ensure the safety and security of our facilities. As we re-open the Memorial Field complex, I want to share an additional update/step that we are going to adopt as procedure that further enhances the safety of our campuses for our students and staff.
The community use hours at the Track at Memorial Field are being amended. During the week, the Track will be open for community use from 6am to the start of school at which time it will close for public use. The Track will re-open for public use at 5pm and remain open until dusk. The only instances that this will change is if we have a school event utilizing the complex, during which start times may be adjusted. On the weekend, the Track will open at dawn and remain open through dusk. As we have shared as procedure for the weekdays, if there is a school event at the site, community members will be asked to walk either prior to or after the event.
I understand that this is a change; however, we are only making the change to ensure safety and security. Memorial Field is used throughout the school day for our Physical Education classes and recess - in essence it is a classroom. As such, with children and staff present, we need to keep visitors outside of that "classroom." I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
