Caldwell Schools Board Report
Update from Zone 3 Trustee Travis Manning
January 2024
The Caldwell School District Board of Trustees is introducing their Trustee update. This update is intended to provide information on Board decisions, as well as school and community events.
Vice Chair Travis Manning
My wife, Ann, and I and our three children are proud to say we have lived in Caldwell for almost 20 years. All three of our children attend Caldwell Public Schools and adore their teachers. I teach high school English and Public Speaking in a neighboring district, where I have also coached wrestling and advised student media and other clubs.
We chose to raise our family in Caldwell because of the small-town feel, but with many of the large-city amenities. Ann has worked for many years on the Caldwell Bikeways and Pathways Committee. Our family regularly serves our faith community. We are strongly committed to building up the people of Caldwell, and working to make sure we all do a better job of supporting our Latino community. We love living in Idaho where there is an emphasis on family, faith, the outdoors, and independence.
ANNUAL ORGANIZATION MEETING
Each year, Idaho School Boards hold an Annual Meeting, as required by law, to elect officers and other required business. This meeting allows School Boards to Elect Board Officers such as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. Trustees nominated Marisela Pesina as Chair and Trustee Travis Manning as Vice Chair of the Board. Trustees also nominated Manuel Godina as Treasurer and Keely Cheney as Board Clerk.
Board Members approved their regular meetings for the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. They also identified dates and times for board work sessions. Trustees Manuel Godina, Travis Manning, and Andrew Butler were also sworn-in as newly elected Board Members. They will serve a four-year term.
