Board of Education Selects Sixth Member to Fill Seat

Lisa Wood Appointed as New Board Member

At Monday night's Board of Education meeting, the Board voted to appoint Lisa Wood to fill the vacancy on the PLCS Board Education. On November 6, the Board narrowed the 71 applicants down to the top five. All five were then interviewed live at the mtg on Monday. Ms. Wood was the final selection. Ms. Wood will be sworn into her position during the November 27th meeting. Ms. Wood brings the unique perspective of an educator to the PLCS Board. She has been an educator for 38 years most recently she served as a Principal for La Vista West Elementary in PLCS and then the director of Federal Programs. Ms. Wood retired from PLCS in 2021.

2024-2025 School Year Calendar Approved

2024-25 School Calendar Approved!

The proposed 2024-2025 school calendar was approved by the Board of Education. This calendar is very similar to the current year calendar. The calendar allows staff and students to have two full weeks off at the winter break and a full week at spring break to provide staff and families time to recharge. The proposal includes:
  • 1st day of school August 13 as a half day
  • Winter Break Dec 23-Jan 3 with a staff only day on January 6
  • Spring Break March 10-14
  • Last day of school May 23
  • No School K-12 on 8 staff development days & 2 elementary-only planning days with no school for elementary students.
