DR. ADAMS' VIDEO MESSAGE TO FAMILIES
NO SCHOOL NOV. 6 (CRESTVIEW HAS SCHOOL.)
WEATHER NOTIFICATION TEST
Emergency Notification Test Nov. 8
West Des Moines Community Schools is getting ready for winter weather and will be testing the notification system at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8. This system helps keep students and staff safe by providing notifications of inclement weather or emergency situation school closings.
The message will be sent out as a:
- phone call
- text message
- WDMCS app notification
IT IS ONLY A TEST. The phone call will come from 515-633-5599, and the text message will come from 606-08.
IMPORTANT: Please confirm your email and phone number are accurate in Infinite Campus because that information is imported nightly to our mass notification system.
TIP: Consider saving 515-633-5599 as a contact in your mobile phone so you'll always know when there's an active WDMCS weather alert.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
HERE! Watch for Attendance Communication
Being HERE for school is essential for building relationships and reaching important learning milestones. That’s why we want to make sure you know if your student is close to being absent for 10% of our school days (18 or more days in a year or missing only two days per month on average).
WDMCS will be increasing communication regarding attendance concerns including:
Watch for Notifications: WDMCS schools will send out daily phone, email, and text notifications if your student has an unexcused absence. Parents/guardians of secondary students will also receive notification if their student is tardy/late that day.
Check Your Mail: Letters will be sent home to parents/guardians when their student has reached between 5-9% absenteeism rate. This is to help inform families and share resources.
We believe your students belong in WDMCS and want them HERE each day. See links below to find resources and ideas for improving attendance.
