Dear parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the halfway point of the academic year! Tuesday, January 16th, marked the beginning of the Second Semester. At this time, I encourage students to think back to their excitement and focus at the beginning of the school year, and to use that energy to set goals for the second half of the year. The start of a new semester offers students the opportunity to begin with a clean slate and a renewed outlook for success on their path to college, careers, and beyond. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the classroom teachers.
Important Dates and information for seniors:
If your student is amongst those receiving scholarships and awards, please be sure to let the counseling department know so we can celebrate their hard work.
By the end of February, letters will be mailed home to parents of seniors who are in danger of not obtaining necessary credits required for graduation, giving specific information regarding their graduation status. In the meantime, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Kirschner at 507-665-5807.

Le Sueur-Henderson Public Schools is happy to announce that we will be offering healthy snacks that students and staff can purchase after school, The school district has been working with the Minnesota Department of Health and our local SHIP agency (statewide health improvement partnership) to create an opportunity to offer healthy snacks.
Through this partnership, we have been able to purchase a snack cart that will be stocked with a variety of healthy snacks. Research has shown that a significant portion of a person's daily calories come from snacks. A snack station/cart may help ensure that you are eating a variety of healthy options.
Snack options will vary each day. The school nurse will work with the cafeteria coordinator to sustain this cart.
Students need to have money in their lunch account or have cash in order to purchase snacks. Snacks will be priced at cost. The snack cart is not meant to make money. The money collected from the snack cart will be used to purchase additional snacks for the cart.
The snack cart will be available starting Thursday, February 1st, 2024 and will be open from 3:08-3:30 pm each day.
We have recently implemented an electronic hall pass system to assist in monitoring student attendance and enhance safety. With this system students are able to create their own passes on their chromebooks or at a Kiosk within the classroom. Teachers must approve the submitted pass for the student to leave the classroom.
Students are provided with 2 passes each day to use while in class. Teachers may create a pass for students at any time at their discretion in cases where location limits have been reached. For example: If a student makes a pass to use the HS restroom and the pass system denies the pass due to the limit of students currently using the restroom, if necessary, the student may then ask the teacher to use the restroom. The teacher can make a pass for the student regardless of the limit being reached.
Some of the benefits of the Pass system are:
- Know what students are using hall passes, and who’s in the hall at any given time
- Identify where students are by building or room in an emergency situation
- Limit passes by student or location to minimize misuse
- Streamline appointment scheduling for teachers
GreenSeam Futures and Minnesota State University of Mankato are seeking to conduct research to better understand career perceptions. We are interested in how parents, guardians, and caretakers of high school students in Minnesota perceive careers and college education opportunities in this region. We developed this study (IRBNet ID #2129973) to try to better understand, serve, and support our region's businesses, organizations, schools, colleges, universities, and communities. Your participation benefits you by providing insight into perceptions of careers for current high school students. In this study, you will be asked to complete an online anonymous survey on perceptions of careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources. The expected time to complete the survey is 10 minutes.

We thank our school counselor, Jessica Kirschner, for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program.
