Week in Review
As we close out the month of September, it's incredible to look back and see how much progress we've made in one month. We now have a fully rostered School Site Council that voted this week to approve our School Plan for Student Achievement. This document will be available on our website in the coming weeks. Look for it linked in the notes from our School Site Council page. It's also available upon request. Our Instructional Leadership Team also met for the first time to discuss the focus for our Professional Learning Communities. Each month, our TK-1st grade and 2nd-5th grade teams will have a half-day release to collaborate on a variety of topics. Our first PLC day is October 10th, and staff will be focused on early interventions like learning contracts for our struggling students. Lastly, we held our first Fire Safety Drill yesterday. We were able to safely evacuate in nine minutes! That's a huge improvement over our first practice last year. Well done Falcons!
Next week is dedicated to early intervention conferences. Every day is a minimum day. These are primarily geared toward supporting students who are not yet showing the level of growth and achievement at this point in the year. Our summative student conferences are scheduled for the week of November 14th.

School Site Council Action
This week our School Site Council approved the 2022-2023 School Plan for Student Achievement. This document lays out the course of action and related expenditures for achieving our goals. Additionally, SSC approved the School/Family Compact and Family Engagement Policy. These document the shared responsibilities of ensuring student success and how we partner with our families to create the wonderful school environment you all experience each day.
Next month, the SSC agenda involves approving the Comprehensive School Safety Plan. If you are interesting in attending, you're more than welcome to! We're meeting from 1:00-2:30 on October 12th. Can't make it? We'll link a copy of the plan in the flyer that week.
Join our PTA
Our Fletcher Elementary Parent Teacher Association is actively seeking new members to get involved with providing our students with an even better school experience. The PTA uses membership dues and donations to organize school carnivals, provide teachers with mini grants, and campus beautification projects. If that sounds like something you'd be into, contact Jen Boucek at jennifer.aahl@gmail.com.
Student of the Week - Leonidas
Our Student of the Week for is Leonidas in Mrs. Wilsies 2nd Grade Class. Leonidas is a fine young man who is being recognized for his leadership role in room 7. He leads by his actions both academically and socially. Leonidas is a conscientious student who always gives his best even when its hard. He does not give up but seeks help when necessary and keeps trying! He knows he can do hard things and mistakes are how we learn. Leonidas is always looking for ways to help his class and the school. We see him picking up trash that isn't his own (in and out of the classroom). If a chair needs pushing in, he pushes it in. If someone leaves something around the classroom, he picks it up and returns it. He is constantly asking his teacher how he can help the class. He is truly an asset to Team 7 and Fletcher Elementary! Way to go, Leonidas! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!
Last Week's Student of the Week
Hoda was able to receive her recognition this week for being Student of the Week last week. Congratulations again, Hoda!
Sign Up for Weekly COVID Testing on Campus
Weekly voluntary COVID screenings resumed this week and will continue to take place weekly on Monday mornings. The more students we have signed up for the screenings, the sooner we can identify symptomatic and asymptomatic cases to reduce community spread.
If you signed up last year, you must sign up again.
