MARTY'S MINUTE
Our students rely on us to provide consistency, care, and compassion. These relationships are built from your professionalism and hard work. I want to thank you all again on behalf of our students. I know the last half of this school will be amazing because of you all.
Jon Hamilton (PAHS)
Say hello to Jon!!! Jon is a math teacher at PAHS.
Jon, Nancy (wife), and kids: McKenzie (18), Susie (14), Kaidence (9), and Savannah (5).
Where are you from?
I am from Tenino, Washington, but was born in Tacoma.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I love interacting with the students each day and collaborating with my amazing co-workers to create opportunities for our students to be successful each and every day.
Anything you'd like to share about your family?
I have been married to my amazing wife Nancy for 7 years. We have four great kids: McKenzie (18), Susie (14), Kaidence (9), and Savannah (5).
Do you have any hobbies?
When I have the time and energy, I enjoy geocaching, hiking, and taking long walks around my neighborhood.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
If I could do anything for a day, it would be to hop on the Coho with my wife and spend the day in Victoria.
What is your goal for this year?
My goal is to continue to develop as an effective educators and help my freshmen to be successful in their first year at the high school.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I envision my three oldest kids have successfully graduated from high school, my youngest will be a successful high schooler, and my wife and I plan for life without kids in the house.
What is a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
My great uncle, Danny Hamilton, we the lead singer of the band Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds. They had a hit single title “Don’t Pull Your Love Out.” I am also distantly related to General Jimmy Doolittle, who led the bombing campaign over Tokyo shortly after the Pearl Harbor attacks during World War II?
Anything else you'd like to share with your co-workers?
I have been incredibly bless to work with such a supportive, amazing group of people at the high school and in the district for the past 14 years.
PAHS East Park Avenue Players Drama Club Presents “Shakespeare Cafe”
The East Park Avenue Players will present a compilation of original student works as part of its “Shakespeare Café” series. There is limited space available in this “Café” style venue. The audience will be seated on the stage in small café tables and chairs.
Student works will show at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center Thursday through Saturday, January 18th, 19th and 20th at 7:00 p.m., and there will be a matinee performance on Saturday, January 20th at 2:00 Ticket prices are $10.00 for general admission, $8 for Senior Citizens age 60+ and students with a valid ID. Children under five years of age get in free.
Tickets may be purchased at the door on the day of the performance. Seating is limited to 55 seats. Get there early to guarantee a seat
PAHS Alumni Perform with PA Symphony Chamber Orchestra This Weekend
The Port Angeles Symphony Chamber Orchestra welcomes two PAHS Alumni this Friday, January 19th, at 7 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and this Saturday, January 20th, at 7 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sequim. Cheryl Swoboda (Landry) will perform on an instrument called Viola d’amore, a “viola on steroids” if you will. It has 14 strings!
Another exciting part of the program is a World Premier of the piece “Dark to Light” composed by ANOTHER PAHS alumni, Jesse Ahmann. Our district produces amazing people!

AmeriCorps MLK Day of Service
AmeriCorps members hosted an event at the Lincoln Center in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The event featured a student art exhibit, student performances including NJROTC, the Native American Club, Studio 360 dancers, and TSA demonstrations. The theme was “Beloved Community.”
The Wildcat Café had refreshments, while several community organizations were present with information on how they served the community and how to get involved. There was also a food collection drive for the local food bank.
