FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday! All families are encouraged to attend our kick-off Mass Sunday at 11:30am. We are so excited for the wonderful week ahead! You can view the schedule for the week here and under Forms and Important Documents below.
Preparations for our annual Auction are well underway, and the list of items for the silent & live auctions continue to grow: We now have 111 auction items, large and small, with a total value over $17,000! Great deals abound, with starting bids for most of the silent auction items at 50% or less of their value, and many of the live items starting at even less than this.
In addition to the auctions, the evening will include a Caribbean themed dinner, full cash bar, dance floor, fire pit, catered dessert bar, raffles, penny social, and more! Plus live Calypso music by Fr. Woolley and Company - all overlooking beautiful Narragansett Bay in the early Spring. And as announced earlier this week, proceeds from the auction go towards the outdoor multi sport court project! Tickets are selling fast, so purchase yours soon!
We are also preparing for our 7th & 8th grade trip to Philadelphia. Join us for a Pasta Dinner on Saturday, February 8th beginning at 6:00pm. All proceeds will help defray the costs of the trip. You can find more information, including ticketing info for the event, in the flyer here.
Progress reports will be going home today (1/24) for students in grades 1-5. Please check your child's home folder for an update on their academic progress so far this trimester! Please note that middle school student grades are available via the Gradelink portal; therefore, hard copies of progress reports will not be provided for middle school students.
Finally, in mid-December we sent out a Parent Survey to gather thoughts on the progress we have made this school year. Your responses have been very helpful as we continue to work to grow and enhance our offerings. If you have not yet had an opportunity to complete the survey, I would encourage you to do so in the next few days. The Survey will close on Tuesday, January 28th. Thank you so much for your feedback!
God Bless & Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Volunteer Opportunities
Mrs. Jarvis is accepting donations of plastic ware and napkins that may be left over from the Thanksgiving or Christmas season. These will be utilized by students in the school lunchroom. Donations can be given directly to Mrs. Jarvis in the front office.
Fr. Doyle School is looking to participate in the First Lego League Junior Expo in March...
...but we can't do it without your help! In order to participate, we are currently asking for volunteers to coach Lego League Jr. team(s). A First Lego League (FLL) Junior team is made up of 4-6 students ages 6-10. Teams meet once per week for 1-2 hours to prepare their projects for the FLL Junior Expo. This year, teams will be using pre-ordered Lego robotics kits to build safe, happy, and healthy communities. Entries are then judged at the expo. Coaches do not need any robotics, computer, or engineering experience, and scheduling can be flexible. If you would be interested in volunteering, please contact the school! You can find more information about FLL Junior here.
The Nurse's Corner
The flu is now considered widespread in RI. Even in the event that it does not entirely prevent infection, the vaccine does help lessen the symptoms and may prevent worsening symptoms. The RI Department of Health wants everyone to know that it's not too late to vaccinate!
At school, the best solution to preventing the flu spreading is GOOD HAND WASHING! There are germs everywhere and many are spread through the air and land on our desks. Keeping hands washed and AWAY from the face will help prevent the spread of the flu and other illnesses. We are also taking extra precautions including cleaning desks and disinfecting toys regularly.
Please encourage your children to always wash their hands or use sanitizer before eating and especially after using the bathroom.

Green Bins help our school!
Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
