Principal's Message
Greetings Springwater Students and Families,
The end of the semester is next week! I am so proud of all the hard work I am seeing when I visit classrooms and talk with students. This past week we had our ACCESS Wednesday which is a day for students to catch up on work, retake tests, and get additional help and support from their teachers. In the afternoon, our Leadership class designed some wonderful, fun, stress-reducing games and activities for the school. I enjoyed seeing all the positive energy and laughter!
Next week is Finals Week for the 3 GBSD high schools, including STHS. Our teachers do not conduct high stakes finals during this time period. This is especially important this year as students (and staff) have struggled with attendance due to illness. Finals week is a time for classes to reflect and gather feedback on the semester, build and strengthen community, and wrap up activities and assignments. Please see the schedule for next week below. School days are also shorter during Finals week and grab-and-go lunches are served.
I know I've said it before but I feel like I can't say it enough: I am so thankful for each and every one of you: students, their supportive families, and our loyal and determined staff. You have all successfully weathered the ever-changing COVID landscape with grace, patience, and sincerity. I appreciate the honest feedback and questions I have received along the way. Please continue to reach out!
Take care and be safe,
Ryan Blaszak

January Spotlight Students
Sofia Rosengart
Grade: 9
Interests: I really love to draw and make up my own stories, while also being able to play video games with my friends. I like to play Ark. It’s a world-wide dinosaur game.
Favorite subject in school: Right now, it would have to be Health. I find it very interesting because they talk about drugs, nutrients, and the body. I just like how you learn all that so you’re prepared for the future.
Favorite thing about STHS: I personally love how it’s small and how everybody knows everybody, so it’s not as stressful. It’s more chilled out.
Brodey Magnan-Snow
Grade: 10
Interests: I enjoy working on cars and playing basketball.
Favorite subject in school: Probably math. It’s what I’m best at. It’s easy for me and I can get good grades in it.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like how small the school is and how open the teachers are. Also, how easy you can connect to people and get help easily.
Brooklin Pendleton
Grade: 11
Interests: I really like reading a lot. It’s one of my favorite pastimes I always do to help me get my mind off school work. I also like playing video games or talking with friends.
Favorite subject in school: Writing, so far, but I don’t take it at school. I take it at Middle College, but it is one of my favorites that I am doing. I like I am able to be at my level of writing and have more freedom with topics that get talked about. I’m able to interact with people who somewhat have the same thoughts.
Favorite thing about STHS: I like how small it is, I’m able to make more friends, and these friends know me instead of being just a ‘school friend’. They’re my actual friend-friends.
Finals Week Schedule: January 24th - 27th
Share your ideas about the future of the West Gresham Building!
The Gresham-Barlow School District needs your input on the future uses of the vacant West Gresham Elementary School Building. The District is considering re-purposing the building to house multiple District and community services. To gather feedback, the school district is using a tool called ThoughtExchange so as many people as possible can participate by sharing their thoughts online. We want to know: What are your thoughts about how we could best use this building and what services might best go in this structure?
Participating takes only a couple of minutes! Share your Feedback
