Special Area at Lambs
Music with Ms. Martin: January CD-2nd grade will be preparing winter songs, adding more complex rhythms, and focusing on instruments in the brass family. January 11th, the Brass Quintet from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, will be performing for our Kdg-2nd grade students. We are so excited to have this group perform for Lambs ES. Third grade continues to build their pedagogy skills with the recorder. We will be adding more notes and start learning the
songs we will perform with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, along with students from Berkeley and Dorchester Counties in March. Fourth and Fifth graders will be connecting history and culture through patriotic music and dramatic reenactments, which will include The Star Spangled Banner and the War of 1812.
Art with Ms. Weber: It’s a new year and an opportunity for learning new skills in art! We will be learning about fiber arts: weaving, looms, sewing, knitting and much more. I hope everyone enjoyed their winter break, and are rested, rejuvenated and ready for the new year!
Library with Mrs. Smith: To kick off the new year, students will be learning how to track their reading on Beanstack! Through this app, teachers, students, and caregivers can log any kind of reading time during the day or week in minutes to reach our CCSD district wide goal of participating in the 15,000,000,000 minute reading challenge. By reading one minute at a time, students, teachers, faculty, staff, administrators, and even caregivers will be able to log minutes toward this endeavour. During 2023, everyone at Lambs will be introduced to Beanstack and there will be celebrations and awards for meeting our goals! Consider making your new year's resolution to READ MORE!
There have been about 300 books added to the Lambs Library that will be available for student check out in the New Year! Students are so excited for new reads!
As always, I will continue to provide support to the EL curriculum by having books readily available based on grade level topics covered in class.
