Happy New Year, Titans!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful winter break. Classes resume tomorrow and we are right back into the swing of things. With us now in January, the end of the school year is just on the horizon, and believe me, time will fly by!
The end of MP2, which also marks the end of semester one, is just under four weeks away. Now is the time for your student to turn things around if they have not been doing well up to this point. Please be reminded that a D in MP 1 and an E in MP2 results in a failure of semester one courses, which means your child will need to repeat the course at some point. For seniors, that might mean during the summer, which could mean graduating in August as opposed to June. Please reach out to teachers now and speak with your students about their grades, so teachers have enough time to work with your student to help them succeed. As a support on our end, starting next week will begin conducting hall sweeps. The purpose of hall sweeps is to encourage students to get to class on time, and to implement appropriate supports for students who chose not to go to class on time.
As a reminder, counselors are meeting one-on-one with students this week and next to finalize their course selections for next school year. Last month I shared the link below with you so you could support your child at home with the course selections for school year 24-25. Please feel free to take a look.

I am also sharing with you again that the tentative graduation date for the Class of 2024 is Thursday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m., at DAR Constitution Hall. There will be no school on graduation day.
Happy New Year!

SAT School Day - March 19 & 20 (NEW)
The SAT will be administered districtwide to all Grade 11 students on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, and Wednesday, March 20, 2024. The SAT will remain free of charge for all Grade 11 students who entered as first-time ninth graders in 2021 (FTNG 2021). All Grade 11 students are expected to take the exam. Non-diploma bound students and students in English Language Development Levels 1 and 2 are not required to take the SAT, but should be offered the opportunity. All make-ups exams must be completed by April 22, 2024.
The purpose of holding SAT School Day over two days is to allow all Grade 11 students to attend the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) college fair. Access to both the NACAC college fair and a paid SAT exam is important for all Grade 11 students. The SAT School Day/NACAC College Fair Schedule serves to indicate the dates when your school will be attending the fair and conducting the exam.
