“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

The combines are off and running. For a casual (but enthusiastic) observer, it’s exciting to see the big machines at work. It’s also easy to forget how much work has gone into getting to this point—all the “off season” maintenance that has to be done, the planning, the planting, the fertilizing, spraying, irrigation, and praying for rain. But when the harvest comes, the reward for all that hard work and patience pays off.

So it is with doing good for the Christian. It can be difficult always trying to do the right thing, the good thing, the Godly thing. There is a cost that is paid. It takes time, planning, and our own resources to do good to those who are around us. As a parent, it’s hard work to sit with a student and do math you barely understand. It’s hard to sit with a little one and read a story for the 47th time. It’s hard work to raise your children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. It’s so much easier to put them in front of a screen so you can accomplish what you need to do at home, or just so you can have a few moments of peace. But consider the charge we have as parents: by raising our kids in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, we are passing on the Christian faith—the faith which saves eternally. By helping with homework, we are helping our kids lay the foundation of what they’ll need to be productive citizens who will, one day, take up the task you have now of raising the next generation. That, dear friends, is the harvest for the unwearied devotion for doing good.

But that cost is not borne alone. We bear one another’s burdens and support one another, sure. But we also have a Lord who supplies us with strength to do the good. By His Word and Sacraments, the Holy Spirit strengthens us for the tasks God gives to us. Go to the Divine Service this weekend. Rest in Christ, who never wearied of doing good. By His devotion to the good—devotion that led Him even to the cross—you have been redeemed for His holy work.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, conform our minds to your will, that we may love what is good and find in You the strength to accomplish it. Bring to completion all that we are unable to fulfill. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

The delivery date for the flowers will be Wednesday, September 27th. Flowers may be picked up between 3:30-5:30pm on the day of delivery. We are in need of a couple of eighth grade parents to assist with the delivery and organization of the flowers for pickup. Please contact the school office if you are able to help with the organization of the flowers on the day of delivery. If you have any questions please contact the school office.

Pickup will not begin until 3:30. Parking will not be available in the St. Peter's lot or in front of the school before 3:30 due to car and bus pickup.

During the weeks of September 18 and September 25 students in grades K-8 will be taking NWEA assessments.

NWEA is a set of tests called the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) that students in grades K-8 will be taking this fall and spring. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade take MAP for primary grades tests in Reading and Math, while students in grades 2-8 take MAP tests in Reading, Language Arts, and Math. These tests determine your child's instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the listed subject areas.

The faculty of Lutheran Central School would like to meet with every family to discuss the academic progress of your child. The opportunity to do so will take place during Parent-Teacher conferences on Tuesday, October 3rd and Wednesday, October 4th. The conferences will take place after school from 3:30-7:00 P.M. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on these days for all students in Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Teachers will meet with each family for a maximum of 15 minutes to allow enough time to speak with every family. The second grade review of the first trimester and the results of the NWEA testing will be discussed during the conferences.

The Athletic Director shall have the following responsibilities:

1. Writing and implementing Athletic Policy, including behavior guidelines for athletics, cheerleaders, coaches, and fans.

2. Selecting coaches and assistant coaches.

3. Scheduling of practices and games.

4. Approving participation in tournaments.

5. Approving athletic fundraisers requiring the use of school facilities.

6. Hiring officials, supervising home events or securing other athletic event workers.

7. Managing concession activities.

8. Managing the Athletic budget.

9. Setting prices and collecting ticket money.

10. Addressing and resolving concerns regarding the athletic program.

Compensation: The salary for the remaining 23-24 school year will be $1,500. Salary for the 24-25 school year will be $2500.

The shifts are:

1 p.m.-4 p.m. for set-up
4 p.m.-7 p.m. servers

LC Students, Families, and Staff are the Best!

The 8th graders have been studying the impacts of solar radiation on land, water, and air as they prepare to write and perform a national weather forecast.

The Brownstown Central Softball team will be hosting a softball camp for girls in grades K-5. The camp will be held at the Brownstown softball fields, behind the elementary school, the week of October 2-5 and we will use Friday if necessary for the rain makeup date. The camp will run from 4-5:30 every day and will focus on fielding, throwing, hitting, baserunning and proper sliding techniques.

The cost of the camp is $30, payment can be made in cash or check made out to "Brownstown Lady Braves Softball". Payment can be turned in on the first day of camp but we will need to know if you are planning to attend by September 11th so we will have time to get every player a shirt.
