PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Clifford Families,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe! In the past few weeks we have seen an uptick of reports of COVID on our school campus. I would like to express gratitude to each member of our community for their ongoing cooperation, patience, and resilience as we work to keep our students healthy, safe, and learning during this time.
If your child is feeling ill or exhibiting possible symptoms of COVID-19, we appreciate your keeping them at home and administering a COVID test. If you are in need of tests, please come to the office and we can provide you one. If your child tests positive, please report this to the school office and the RCSD Student COVID Reporting Link. Once you have done this, a district representative will reach out to you with next steps.
We have had several questions in regard to when students and staff can return to school after testing positive for COVID-19. The current guidance states that students and staff may return to school after 5 days as long as they have been fever free for 24 hours and no longer have symptoms. Please note that day 1 begins the day after the positive test result. More information can be found here in the COVID Pandemic Recovery Framework for Schools.
You also need to know that the district has changed how they are notifying the parent community about positive COVID-19 cases on campus.
In lieu of individual exposure notifications, they will be sending a general notification to the entire school community during times of elevated community transmission/outbreaks of COVID-19. This communication can alert all to the increased potential of being exposed to COVID-19 due to a rise in cases among school and community members and remind all to monitor for symptoms and get tested.
Outbreak Definitions:
• At least three suspected, probable, or confirmed COVID-19 cases within a 14-day period among people who are epidemiologically linked in the setting, and are not known to be close contacts of each other in any other case investigation, OR
• For large settings (a facility or workplace with >100 persons present in the setting), particularly during high levels of community transmission, local health departments may determine that a higher proportion (at least 5 percent) of cases within a 14-day
For any further questions, parents can email the district at StudentCOVIDResponse@rcsdk8.net
As always, please reach out to me directly if you have concerns or questions.
Thank you,
Kristy Jackson

School Attendance
Did you know that students who are regularly in school are better long term learners and have more successful social relationships? Research illustrates that young learners make bigger strides in not only academic achievement but also social and emotional skills when attending school regularly. Our kids develop deeper and more positive relationships with peers and adults when they are present daily to learn, play and grow together. Their confidence and morale is impacted positively with continual attendance in school.
September is National Attendance Awareness Month! The Redwood City School District is working hard to ensure we are all able to “Attend and Achieve” together! To learn more about the research of positive benefits to regular attendance, visit attendanceworks.org.
Thank you for bringing your child to school every day and for arriving prior to the start of the instructional day at 8:15 a.m.
