13 January 2023
Happy Friday Kipling Families,
It is with a full heart that I welcome everyone back with all the best wishes for 2023! I hope everyone had time to relax, recharge, and reconnect with friends and loved ones over the break. It was so nice to take a break from the usual routine, and take a more eased approach to the day. With that said, after 18 days, I was very excited for our boys to get back into their school routines. As we all adjust back to our work and school schedules, let’s remember to take our time, have patience (and maybe an extra cup of coffee), and provide some grace for our kiddos and ourselves. I am so happy to be back working with our incredible students and staff every day.
Kindergarten registration is now open for the ‘23-’24 school year (Information posted below!). Please register ASAP and tell all of your friends and neighbors who live in our boundary. The sooner we know how many Kindergarten students we have coming, the sooner we can make sure we are appropriately staffed.
Just a reminder there is no school on this Monday, January 16th in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Also,
I hope you all have a happy and healthy long weekend!
Respectfully,
Mr. Matthew O. Lombardo, NBCT

Panorama SEL Survey
Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important at Kipling. As a part of the learning process, we will be asking our students to reflect on their own SEL mindsets via an online survey. The survey will be administered on February 3rd, and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. It asks students to self-reflect on their own grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness, and emotional regulation.
Individual student responses can provide the school and family with insight into what skills the child self-identifies as strengths and others they would like to develop. The overall data helps us identify priorities and provide targeted learning opportunities to address the SEL needs in our classrooms.
Similar to the survey given in grades 3-5, we have created a very short (8-question) survey to administer to Kindergarten through 2nd graders. This survey will collect information about Sense of Belonging and Engagement, and the results will help guide our improvement at the school level.
Per policy, if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey, please contact me no later than 1/31/23.
