Classroom Expectations
We can only become stronger through demonstrating Respect, Compassion, and Integrity in the classrooms. Students enhance their skill set by having a growth mindset, coming to school prepared to learn, and being involved. This week, ask your child how they are involved at school.
West Wing School Music Programs
We are so excited for all of our Band and Chorus students. They each showcased their skills this week for various classes and also had classes visit them. We are looking forward to their upcoming assessments where a panel of expert musicians will give then feedback to use throughout the year as they develop their musical skills and in preparation for their end of year assessment.
We are so fortunate to have such a supportive parent community that generously purchase items off of our school store wishlist. Please tap the image below to send items from our Mustang Store wishlist to support our Positive Behavior system! This year we will have a special Mustang Store for seventh and eighth graders only!
Our first Mustang Store is Friday, September 8! Help us get stocked up by clicking the link below!!
Hello Families,
The motto this week is:
I am kind to the people I am with right now!
When students make a friend or a group of friends at school, they may easily fall into a pattern. They only want to talk to their friends, sit next to their friends, and be partnered with their friends in class.
These feelings are normal, but it is also important for them to realize that every student has the potential to become a friend, and when it comes to having friends, the more, the merrier.
In school, students are often paired with new learning partners, or their seat will change in class, and they are no longer sitting next to their best friend. Without thinking, students may express their disappointment about this change with their body language or by expressing their disappointment aloud.
While their feelings are authentic, the message they are sending to others is hurtful. If the people around us feel like they are our second choice, they will likely come to resent us.
Make sure your child isn't unintentionally excluding their classmates because they feel satisfied with the friends they already have. While students don't have to be best friends with everyone, they also don't have to be rude to anyone either.
Ask your child to help create a positive learning environment by:
1. Before school: Greet everyone in a friendly manner, not only best friends.
2. At recess: Include students who want to join your game of tag, kickball, or tetherball.
3. During class: Don't show disappointment when paired with a learning partner. Be kind!
“A smile lights up more than a face, it can light up a person’s entire day.”

We all deserve common courtesy, and the more of it we share, the more we receive.
Have a great week,
