A Message from Marcie
Thanks for a great week, South Park!
On Wednesday, we held an all-school assembly to talk about Red Ribbon Week with our students. This year's theme for Red Ribbon Week was "Be Kind To Your Mind." We presented to students about making healthy choices to keep our whole bodies healthy, including our minds. As part of the assembly, we shared self-regulation strategies to stay calm and peaceful by reading aloud the book, I Am Peace, by Susan Verde.
During the second part of the assembly, our students presented a goal that their class has been working on that relates to our school-wide expectations. This is all part of our universal approach to modeling, teaching, and acknowledging positive social, emotional and behavioral skills.
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for parent-teacher conferences the past two days. We hope that the time spent with your child's teacher gave you a clear picture of how your child is doing so far this school year. As always, we invite you to keep the lines of communication open with our teachers so that we can work together to continue supporting all of the students at South Park.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Marcie
Halloween Details (2nd Posting)
We are hopeful that the weather will cooperate so that we can hold an outdoor Halloween parade on Tuesday, October 31. We plan to begin our parade indoors at 2:00 before we exit the building with all of our students. Please be patient as we gather all of our students throughout the school to line up!
If you plan on attending the parade in person, our route begins on the Rosewood Blacktop with students exiting our south-east gymnasium doors to head west along the blacktop. We will circle behind our school along the fire lane heading north and then wrap around the Kenmore blacktop heading to our front circle. We will loop back the way that we started so families should see all of the students twice!
If you cannot attend in person or it happens to rain, all families will have the chance to watch the livestream feed of our parade. The link to the livestream will be sent out on Tuesday, October 31st at 1:00 p.m.
Below are some additional reminders about wearing costumes at school.
- Costumes should not depict or mock meaningful traditions of other cultures.
- Extra accessories (e.g. witch's broom, shields, etc) should be kept at home.
- Toy weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.
- Students should either wear costumes to school all day or have the ability to change into costumes in the classroom. Students will not be permitted to change clothes in the bathrooms.
- Masks that cover the face as a costume accessory can be worn during the parade and party, not during class time as it may be a distraction during learning.
Families who need assistance in providing their child with a costume, please reach out to Dr. Faust.
Families who are not comfortable sending their child in costume, please reach out to your child's teacher so that we can be sensitive to you or your child's feelings about dressing up for Halloween. We want everyone at South Park to feel comfortable.
Don't Forget to Choose Your Child's Yearbook Photos (2nd Posting)
Please make sure you select your child's yearbook photo selection by November 1st on the Stuart-Rodgers site. Links to your child's photo were emailed to you directly from Stuart-Rodgers Photography. Even if you choose not to buy photos, you have the option to choose the photo that is included in South Park yearbook.

- Please follow our morning procedures, and drop your children off at their regular grade level doors. If you choose to drive through the front circle at arrival, kindly stay in your car when you drop off to help us reduce morning congestion.
- K-5 drop-off is between 8:35-8:45 a.m. Students who arrive after 8:45 a.m. will need to enter through the front door of the school, as all other doors will be locked.
- Dismissal for all Kindy and 1st-grade walkers and car riders will take place at their grade level door.
- Early Learners drop-off/pick-up info can be found here.
- When parking in our Birchwood parking lot, please remember that our preschoolers are dropped off and picked up by the west end (closest to the school).
