ELC Newsletter
May 2022
Congratulations ELC Students!! You have had such an amazing year!!!
As we wrap up this school year, take time to celebrate your child's academic and developmental growth this school year! We have enjoyed all the learning opportunities and experiences together with you and your child and are so proud of all their accomplishments! From establishing routines, supporting their academics, meeting new challenges, making new friends, and adjusting to change, our students have had an spectacular journey at the ELC this year that will support them on their next academic adventure! Congratulations to our parents who have helped support our students' growth and development! It can be rigorous! Supporting your children through each of these challenges and helping them achieve their goals every step of the way gives them the tools they need to advance and have the confidence they need. Way to Be, Brickies!
Conversation is key!
Having conversations with your kiddos is so very important! Chances are if you ask them, "How was your day today?" They will say "fine." Try asking them in a different way. Say things like, "Who did you sit by at lunch today?'... "What was the funniest thing that happened today?"..... "Who did you play with at recess? What did you play?" Ask them things that can't be answered in one word. Below is a link to some Conversation Cards- when you sit down for dinner, grab one! See where the conversation takes you =)
Let's finish Kindergarten strong!!!
A new tool from the Indiana Department of Education for parents!!
The Indiana Learning Lab is a fantastic tool for educators and now there are new resources for parents and families! Parents and families.... this tool is available to help support you in supporting your children with literacy, mathematics, digital tools, and more!
Celebrating goals till the end!
We have so many kiddos doing so many great things! We will continue all of our celebrating all the way through the end of the year, so keep up the hard work and finish strong! We will also be having one more PBIS celebration where we recognize 2 grit workers and 2 members of the royalty court of kindness from each classroom for the last quarter! Check out some of our Quarter 3 winners, we are so proud of you and all the things you are doing!
Who's Awesome?!?
ALLLLLLLL the kindergarteners and Miss Hannah, or school counselor, are AWESOME! Miss Hannah hosted lessons in positive self talk at the end of last month with each of the classes. Every child received a copy of "I Believe I Can" which is a great story about believing in yourself! It is so important for all of us to remember all of the things we can do.
Miss Hannah "are you awesome?!"

Kinders Coding!
Last month the district hosted it's Annual Brickie Makers and Inventors Showcase at the High School. After spending weeks learning how to code robot mice- the ELC students showed off their talents at the event. They did such and AMAZING job. We are so proud of them! Thanks to all who came and checked out the awesome event. Keep growing and coding kiddos! We can't wait to see what you do in the future.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Our spring Book Fair was a great success! Thank you to all that sent money in for your child to shop, those who came to our evening event and shopped with your kids, and to all of you that volunteered your time to help out! There were SO MANY HAPPY kiddos and my heart was full seeing all the excitement the kiddos had over their new books! Thank you all, and Happy Reading!
