Handbook Highlight - Cell Phone/Electronic Devices
As we come back from break we wanted to remind students and families of the Chilton Cell Phone/Electronic Devices policy.
Page 14 in the Handbook:
We recognize that cell phones and electronics have become a common tool for communication. However, they can also become a major distraction to the learning environment and are vulnerable to theft.
Students are allowed to carry cell phones and electronics to school. However, devices (including headphones) must be silenced and stored in the students’ backpack prior to entering the classroom.
Devices are to be in silent mode and in the students’ backpack during class hours, including time out of the classroom on a hall pass, and during all school and State tests.
Students will not be allowed to use devices during class time
Projection of personal media either through a portable speaker or loud volume is prohibited.
Students are allowed to use cell phones and electronics before and after school, during passing periods and during their lunch period.
The school accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen cell phones or electronics.
Any violation of the cell phone/electronic device policy could result in:
A classroom or office referral for technology violation
Confiscation of cell phone or electronic device until end of day and/or parent retrieves item from school office.
Administration reserves the right to decide the appropriateness of cell phone and electronics use on campus and to change the cell phone/electronics policy and privileges on a case by case basis due to any misuse of devices.
Lost Student ID Cards
Has your student lost their student ID card? Well… This week replacement cards are now available for only $2 in the office. That is a 60% discount off the normal price! Please see Mrs. McCall in the main office to get your new ID. Remember, ID cards are needed to get into the library during lunch, get playground equipment, purchase dance tickets, and much more!
TRAFFIC REMINDERS
-Please follow all traffic and parking laws.
-Please do not park in front of other's driveways, garages, or designated no parking areas around the campus (including the bus loop) and surrounding neighborhood.
-Please make sure to obey instructions from the Crossing Guards (California Vehicle Code 2815).
Please no parking in the middle of the parking lot. This causes traffic back ups and doesn't allow others to pull out of their parking spots safely and efficiently.
Please make sure to safely pull forward as far as you can to keep traffic moving.
Have your student meet you at your car further down the line rather than at the beginning of the parking lot. This will allow traffic to flow more efficiently.
School Issued Chromebooks
We are now well into the school year, and we wanted to make you aware that some families may be receiving invoices for damages to a Chromebook that was checked out to your student. Students are made aware during check out that they must notify the librarian, or their teacher immediately of any damage to the Chromebook. If they do not, they accept full responsibility for any damage that is done to the Chromebook throughout the year. Please speak with your student regarding these invoices. Invoice amounts will vary depending on the damage that is done to the Chromebook. Payments can be made at the Chilton front office and can be cash or check.

DELIVERIES, FOOD DROP OFF, AND MESSAGES TO STUDENTS
Parents are NOT PERMITTED to bring in or drop off any food or drink (including water bottles). This includes food delivery services. Lunches are offered for free this year, so any forgotten lunch can be supplemented by cafeteria offerings. We also have multiple water fountains in classrooms and around campus for students to use.
Items delivered or left in the office by parents will not be delivered to students. Students will not be notified of items in the office and it is the responsibility of the student to come to the office during lunch or passing periods to pick up items. We will only deliver emergency messages to students.
