I want to make sure you have everything you need to be a successful student this year. Below are a few frequently asked questions. I will be updating this throughout the year when new questions come, so keep this link posted somewhere handy. As questions arise and when answers are found, I will place the helpful resource here. Laptops have been distributed this school year. New students and students who have not picked up one can go to the library for a laptop.

Before coming to the library for Tech Help, try trouble shooting your laptop issues.

• No WIFI or can't login, try a hard restart. This fixes most laptop issues.
• Password Resets can happen with any teacher.
• Update your computer. Check Directions below.

If something is broken and it is still not working after the above steps, come by the library on a hall pass for help.

Laptop sluggish or Internet not working? You may need updates. You can avoid this by keeping your laptop on, on the Internet, and plugged in overnight. MNPS runs updates at night so laptops are not disrupted during school. You can push laptop through by following the steps below. And when the laptop say "Restart for Update" go ahead and restart the computer for the update.

1. Bottom left corner type "Check Updates"
2. Then Select "Check Updates"
3. Allow updates to be checked and then check back for "Update & Restart"
4. You can also Select "Check for Updates Online" to pull more Microsoft Updates.

Here is how you can add software to your student computer that is approved by MNPS.

1. Bottom Left-Hand corner of student laptop search "Software" and then select "Software Center"
2. From Software Center, double click the software you need to add.
3. Press Install.
4. Make sure you are on the WIFI the whole time you are.
5. Some software may require a restart before it works.

To access school WIFI on personal devices, please use the

"school.mnpsk12" WIFI

Just your username (not the full email)

and your current password.

Helpful tips:

• If it is not working, you may need a teacher to reset your password.
  
• Sometimes you will need to forget connection, before it will work with a new password
• Android users will need to select "PEAP" as well as "Do not check" for certificates

You can create and manage your hall passes using your Office365 account from Classlink. Access E-Hallpass Here

Login for Infinite Campus & Office365 are similar but different. Directions are below, but remember that Office365 Username is the username@mnpsk12.org & your unique password. Infinite Campus is just the username (no @mnpsk12.org) plus the same unique password.

When you are locked out of your email and need a password reset, you can request this help from any teacher, academy office, or the library staff. Email joyce.claassen@mnps.org for more help.

Learn how to access your school email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & other Microsoft products through the use of your School Office 365 Account.

Use the direct link to Schoology on www.burrolibrary.com with your mnpsk12.org email (directions to access their mnpsk12.org email found here) . The password is your student ID.

Using a "Google" searched link to Schoology will not allow you access to the correct Schoology Portal. Also, using your personal email to Schoology, will not give you access to 2020-2021 Schoology at Hillsboro.

Most Databases are found on www.burrolibrary.com

Most of them work automatically at school. If not you will either use your Limitless Libraries account or Hillsboro for both the username and password.

The website has changed this year and it is amazing.

Remember, your student ID is your Library Card and your PIN # is your birthday. If your birthday is September 8th then your PIN is 0908. Students can reset their PIN and their PIN instructions will be sent to their MNPS email.

For Staff it is your Employee ID. PIN then you will RESET PIN and it will send PIN instructions to your MNPS email.

Beanstack is a platform used by libraries and schools across the country to encourage and support independent reading. MNPS schools has provided this valuable tool for students K-12. Beanstack can be found on Classlink! At Hillsboro, we will be building multiple options for incentives with students reading & logging minutes in Beanstack. Email librarian for more help! To print papers for projects at school, you have a few options. You can print from home, or you can get a hall pass to the library to print your own papers.

None of the Printers in the building are able to print directly from your laptop. To print, you must save your document as a PDF on a flashdrive and then place flashdrive in the color printer (not the copy machine) in the library to print. Directions on how to print are found in link below.
