Greetings from Principal Rowell

We are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week during the week of May 8-12. This is an opportunity to recognize and express our gratitude for the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our outstanding educators.

Teaching is a challenging and demanding profession, requiring patience, dedication, and a deep commitment to students' growth and wellbeing. Teachers serve all students, no matter their background, or ability. They show up every day with enthusiasm and passion for helping our students succeed.

Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of our society. They are actively preparing the leaders, innovators, and thinkers of tomorrow for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Join us in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week by taking a moment to thank a teacher who has made a positive impact on your life or the life of your child. Write a heartfelt note, send an email, or make a post on social media expressing your gratitude. Let's make sure our teachers know just how much we value and appreciate all they do!

As always, thank you for your continued support of our staff and school. We are happy to partner with you in your child's educational journey.

Exam Schedule

Please see the Final exam schedule for high school. All middle school students will report to the event lobby at the start of school on June 8, which is a B day.

Field Trips

June 7 - 6th grade: Discovery World Museum

Please return permission slips by Tuesday, May 30, 2023, to Ms. Holk.

Students will be assigned to a staff member and will check in with that teacher the morning of the field trip. This information will be shared with students in advance.

FORWARD Goal

In this letter we shared the FORWARD goal that was set for all middle school students for the 2022-23 school year. Please familiarize yourself with the goal.

Kohler School Friends - PTO

May 15, 2023 6:30-7:30pm: Last Friends PTO meeting of the year. Please come to the library.

May 24, 2023 6:30-8:00 pm: All moms JK through 12 are invited to a “Summer Kick Off Social” at the home of Erin Schueller. No PTO work ... Just fun meeting other moms in your kid’s grades.

Mental Health Awareness - Event

Unfortunately this event has been canceled due to some logistical matters. We hope to hold a wellness day next year for students and staff.

Parking Lot Safety

We want to ensure the safety of all students and families in our parking lot. As a community we all share some responsibility.

Please share these reminders with your child:

please proceed with caution
look when backing up or pulling out of a parking stall
do not speed and pay attention by not being on your phone and texting

PBIS - Middle School

Please remind your child of the new PBI goal, that was shared with students.

Goal: 75% of middle school students will have two or fewer missing assignments in Skyward

Timeframe: May 3 - May 31

Reward: Bounce Joust at the End of the Year Picnic

PDF - Play Time, Down Time, Family Time: High School

In an effort to promote Bomber Pride, through Play Time, Down Time and Family Time, students will not receive a homework assignment on the specific days identified in the PDF Homework Practice. The next PDF day is May 12.

Safe Harbor Parent Workshop - Save The Date

Adolescence is a crucial period for developing social and emotional habits important for mental well-being. These include adopting healthy sleep patterns, developing problem-solving and interpersonal skills, as well as safe on-line behaviors. Students learn about some of these same topics in their freshman health class.

We are very excited to provide a relevant parent information workshop to discuss a variety of topics concerning how to best support healthy teen relationships in a technological era.

Please join Detective Brandon Kehoe and Safe Harbor Director of Prevention and Education Kelsie Engelhardt on May 23, 2023 at 5:30pm. The topics include youth vulnerabilities, youth technology usage, what sexting is, online safety practices for youth and adults, how to have hard conversations with youth, and how to create a safe space for youth to talk about these topics and their relationships.

Please save the date and look for more information in the next few weeks.

Scheduling

The high school counselor will go into classrooms for rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors to assist students in selecting courses for the 2023-24 school year during the week of May 8. Please review your child’s schedule in Skyward by the end of the week and reach out to Ms. Nachreiner with any questions at nachreinerc@kohler.k12.wi.us.

Please note that rising freshmen do not have many selections as the required courses are fairly standard.

Seniors

Will receive an email from Mrs. Andrews with the senior end of year checklist around May 24, 2023.

I have begun my Junior Academic meetings chatting with students about senior year and post graduation plans. These have been going well and students are asking a lot of great questions.

We are in the home stretch and I’m sure we can all agree that this beautiful weather is exactly what we needed.

News from our Middle School Counselor, Mrs. O’Connor

A team of teachers and Ms. Nachreiner, high school counselor, and myself have been busy planning for next year to incorporate more ACP (academic and career planning) through the Xello program. We want to prepare our middle school and high school students to be future ready.

Xello is an K-12 online program that fully engages every student in building the skills, knowledge, and plan for future success. Xello engages every student with a student driven future readiness program.

April Bomber Athletic and Activities

Here we are already in the last month of the school year and spring sports season. Time has flown, to say the least, and it has been an enjoyable spring thus far. Our spring sports teams are doing well. Track and Field has won many invites recently beating 12 other teams at the Brookfield Academy meet. Baseball has had some great games and has won several games. The fans have been cheering loudly and proudly at soccer games. The girl's soccer team has improved tremendously throughout the season and continues to grow. Golf is undefeated in conference play, and looks to continue its success throughout the rest of this season, and Tennis is ranked in the top 10 in the state and is doing an amazing job. The postseason is right around the corner, and we hope we continue to have success as we have all year in the postseason!

My message this month is one of gratitude to everyone who makes extracurriculars possible for our students. Without everyone below, extracurricular activities would not be possible.

Coaches: Without the dedication of the coaches we would not have sports at Kohler. Coaching is one of the toughest jobs out there. Coaches work endless hours and give up their personal and family time to ensure that the Kohler Blue Bombers have great sports programs. Thank you to all the youth coaches, middle school coaches, and high school coaches for making a difference in the lives of our student-athletes, and giving them the tools they need to be successful in life.

Advisors: Thank you for working with our students every day to give them opportunities to compete and learn life skills. We had a lot of success in some of our clubs this year. Forensics, the math team, HOSA, and many of our clubs did very well in competitions. While clubs like the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Nature Club may not get recognitions, they all did invaluable things to improve the school culture and community. The drama club put on a great performance this year as well for our community. Thank you to all of the advisors!

Teachers: Thank you for being accommodating when our students need to leave early for competitions. Thank you for understanding that after-school activities play a crucial role in students’ lives. Thank you for coming out to support our student-athletes.

Administrative Assistants: Thank you to the administrative assistants for all that they do. From helping with scheduling buses, paying officials, getting cash boxes ready, and everything else they do. Without them, athletics would not run as smoothly as they do.

Administrators: Thank you to the administrators who support athletics on a daily basis. Thank you for showing up to games to cheer on the team, and thank you for understanding the importance of extracurricular activities in the school system.

Bus drivers, officials, and event workers: Without all of these individuals we would not be able to have athletics. Thank you for the time you take out of your day to ensure we can have extracurricular activities.

Community Members and Parents: Thank you for showing up to events, and thank you for supporting everyone who participates in extracurricular activities. Without your support, we would not have anyone that could participate in extracurricular activities!
