Duc In Altum ("put out into the deep")
Good Afternoon!
A lot has been going on in and around the school since our last newsletter!
Our middle school students had an awesome opportunity to participate in the first Duc in Altum Outdoor Labs program put on by the Archdiocese of OKC at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Camp in Wellston, OK. Outdoor labs provided 3 days of hands-on education in the context of the Catholic faith. It was inspired by Pope St. John Paul II's encyclical Fides et Ratio and the life of Blessed Father Stanley Rother. Through learning about the heroic life of Blessed Stanley Rother and St. John Paul II and their love for the outdoors, our middle schoolers were given this unique opportunity to grow and dive deep into faith and reason. We participated in camp fire activities, archery, low ropes course, canoeing, hiking, small group discussions, building shelters, creating habitats, stargazing, and prayer. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was praying the Rosary together while stargazing. It was a beautiful moment. One that we will all remember. It was an amazing 3 days!
"Ms. Frizzle" has been coming in on Wednesdays to teach science to our PK classes. She is a "big hit!" (See picture above right)
Tomorrow is Donuts with Grownups! Parents and Grandparents are encouraged to join us for School Mass at 9am, then enjoy donuts with their children / grandchildren after Mass. We hope to see a lot of parents and grandparents tomorrow!
There will be no school on Friday, September 15th due to our teachers participating in the Archdiocesan Professional Development Day.
Mid-term progress reports will go out next week on Wednesday, September 20th.
The CCYO middle school football team won 30-27 last week over Bethany! They play again tomorrow @ Putnam City Original. All of our VB teams were in action this past weekend. We have seen much improvement! The middle school girls had a big win over Christ the King on Saturday! They will all be in action again this weekend. Check the schedule links below for more details.
Attention 8th grade parents: The three Catholic High School's in the Archdiocese are opening enrollment soon, below are some flyers with information on all 3 schools: Bishop McGuinness, Mount St. Mary, and Cristo Rey.
Our 7th graders will be visiting all 3 schools at some point this year. Stay tuned for those dates.
Reminders:
- Donuts with Grownups TOMORROW after school Mass.
- NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY (Teachers @ Archdiocese PD)
- If you haven't done your safe environment training, we encourage you to take the training. This will make the process easier for volunteering.
- Pray Walk Talk is coming up! Please get permission slips turned in if you haven't already.
- Friendly reminder to please stay in your car as much as possible during drop-off and pick-up.
- Progress reports will go out next Wednesday, September 20th.
As always, school Masses are on Thursdays at 9am, and we pray our school Rosary on Wednesdays at 2:30pm. We would love for you to join us!
