NWR Strategic Plan - What To Expect!

As you know from previous communications, we are launching our Strategic Plan on February 13, 2023, at 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria. There will be a series of 3 meetings to gather input and information from our staff, students, parents, and community. I wanted to share more about what to expect should you choose to attend the meetings and/or participate in the Community Input Survey.


  1. The Strategic Plan meetings will be posted as Special Board Meetings. We will meet in the Cafeteria by calling the meeting to order but will immediately move into Strategic Planning. There will be no action items on these agendas.
  2. A representative from Battelle For Kids, our consulting firm to conduct the plan, will take the lead on the sessions.
  3. The sessions will be interactive but directed. Essentially, we will be working together to determine a 5-year set of goals for the District. These sessions are not "open forums" to bring complaints. We will discuss areas of concern with the intention of bettering the school as a whole.
  4. At the end of the public sessions, the consultant will work with the leadership team to write the goals that will be shared with the Board and then the community in either May or June. These goals will be our District Goals for the next 5 years.

The Strategic Planning Process

Our strategic process will be;

  • Anchored in the local Portrait of a Graduate. We completed this last year. This will ultimately drive our curriculum and programming.

  • Geared to establish a bold vision that has an enduring impact.

  • Centered on authentic stakeholder engagement.

  • Designed to elevate student and educator voices.

  • Based on a systems approach that drives equitable 21st-century learning.

  • Informed by leading education research and analysis of local and regional ecosystems.

  • Bolstered with engaging communications support.

Community Input Survey

Please complete this staff and community input survey even if you plan to attend the Design Team Meetings. The data from this survey goes directly to our consulting firm, Battelle For Kids. The results of the survey will drive the discussions as we progress through the Strategic Plan.
