Family Update
Dublin Jerome High School
Take Responsibility, Always Growing, Better Together
January 6, 2023
A message from me...
Good Afternoon!
It was so great to have everyone back this week to start the second semester. Having the energy and excitement back in the building is always welcomed!
A focus of this semester for everyone here at Jerome is to really focus our 20 sq. ft or sphere of influence. We control the our behaviors within our 20 square feet. There are times each and every day when our emotions may cause us to behave in an unusual manner.
The ask of everyone is to practice controlling our responses to events by pressing pause, getting our minds right, before we take action. If we focus on an above the line mindset, we will achieve a desired outcome. We won't be perfect but if we can be just a little better each day, overall we will be improving.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
This semester has a large number of benchmark events for students and families. Our first such event is Scheduling and Advisement. I have shared a number of details below so please take some time to read and review. This is an extremely important process that requires our collaboration.
I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
Better Together,
Mike
Weekly Schedule
Reports Cards
Report Cards for the first semester will be posted in ProgressBook Friday at 5:00pm. We encourage you to check these posted grades to ensure accuracy and awareness. Students that pass courses have received credit for their courses from the 1st semester. In addition GPAs have been adjusted based on credits earned.
If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress in a course please reach out to the teacher (email, phone call, etc) They have the best information to help provide feedback on your child's progress.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, January 26 from 3:00-6:30pm.
Construction Update (1.6.23)
- Framing for our touchdown/collaborative spaces has begun.
- Phase 2 of interior work is being planned (ceiling removal and flooring install).
- Drywall and other interior work in the new parts of Jerome are continuing and is on schedule.
Parking Reminders from Mr. P
- If you got your license over break and would like to drive to school you need a parking pass. Please stop by in the main office to see Mr. P and he will help. As a note we are nearing our max number of passes and are monitoring closely.
- We have a number of students that have passes but are not displaying them. Please be sure you have your tag visible next week!
- Please remember not to park in visitors' spots We have enough spaces we would like to keep those available for visitors and guest teachers.
Hyland Croy Drop Off
As we continue to grow in our northwest quadrant traffic is becoming more difficult to navigate. If you drop off on the Hyland Croy side of the building please note that making a left hand turn will be difficult with traffic coming south.
Our suggestion is that if you are dropping off, please do so on the Brand Road side. This will allow you to turn right our to the lot and quickly exit to the round about.

January 11: Emerald Campus/Tolles/DCS Virtual
DCS Programs will visit Jerome during Lunch on January 11. Students will have the opportunity to learn about these programs and ask questions of students and staff that are currently working in these programs.
January 12-24: Course and Individual Advisement
Jerome staff will provide course and individual advisement to students in their classes. This is a very important component our our process and students will have to ask questions and discuss next step with their teachers.
We are also asking that parents discuss scheduling options with their child and sign off on their course selections. This will affirm that a discussion took place. Please remember we build our schedule and staff to appropriate levels based on these course requests. Making schedule changes in the beginning of next year are difficult and options are limited.
January 25-Feb. 10: Schedule Collection
Students will meet with their school counselor and review their course requests in SchoolLinks. School counselors will approve selections at that time. In spring families will receive course confirmation of these requests and will be able to make adjustments if necessary prior to summer.

CELTS, LEAVE YOUR MARK AT DUBLIN JEROME WITH A COMMEMORATIVE BRICK
With the new addition to Dublin Jerome High School, the commemorative brick patio is also getting some additionsโฆ your personalized Celtic Brick. The current brick patio was installed in 2014 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the DJHS as a gift from that yearโs senior class. Who knew that less than 10 years later, we would need the current additions to accommodate the incredible growth in our schools? The original patio will be relocated to the front of the school near the new school addition in the summer of 2023. The relocation allows us to add additional bricks to complement the original memorial bricks.
This is your opportunity to purchase a beautiful, engraved brick paver to celebrate and memorialize students, alumni, school team, club, organization, or your favorite teacher in a meaningful and unique way that is forever set in stone.
Fill out the information below to purchase your Celt Brick and then donโt forget to come to see your commemorative brick during the grand opening of the school next fall.
4x8 bricks are $100 and can have up to 4 lines with up to 21 characters per line (Recommended: 3 lines, 18 characters). All proceeds go directly to the PTO to support all students and teachers at Dublin Jerome.
