Dear Bobcat Families,
This Wednesday our school will participate in the African American Read-in. This is a national event that occurs every February in schools, churches, community and professional organizations. The event focuses on making literacy a significant part of Black History Month. During English class, students will come to the auditorium and hear stories that feature African American writers.
Black history month continues this week. Students will continue to hear interesting facts about famous Black figures who impacted American history. Don't forget to watch the YouTube video below for more facts about famous Black figures.
In addition, here is no school on Monday due to Presidents' Day. Regular school hours resume on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
The Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a tool for local educational agencies to set goals, plan actions, and leverage resources to meet those goals to improve student outcomes. Chinese New Year ends on Saturday, February 24th. Click the video below to learn more about the Chinese Lantern Festival.
Lastly, English Learner students will take the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) later this month. The ELPAC assessment window is from February 26th to March 8th. The assessment components are reading, writing, listening and speaking. Testing will take place during 1st and 2nd periods. Parents of EL students can help your student by emphasizing the importance of this exam. Proficiency on the ELPAC as well as the state test are two of the components that can lead to reclassification. Click HERE to access the reclassification criteria for California.
