FFA ACES Leadership Conference
Senior Nights
On January 18th, the following wrestling seniors were recognized: Ryan Adams, Blake Barrick, Kyle Brobst, Steven Lynn, and Christian Ruff. Alongside the wrestlers, the following winter cheerleaders were recognized: Kaylee Fulkroad and Renee Petitt. On February 1st was the swimming and diving senior night. The following swimmers and divers were recognized: Johanna Burrell, Brennan Flory, Conner Greene, Paola Rivera -Gonzalez, Shannon McCabe, Quincey Myers, Sydney Palmer, Jackson Penner, Alexa Walter, and Carlisle diver, Nicholas Pryor. On February 2nd was the senior night for girl's basketball. The following seniors were recognized: Madison Bishop, Lauryn Cunningham, Megan Emlet, Elizabeth Fry, Emily Smith, Paige Snyder, and Madana Tigyer. On February 8th was the the last senior night. The following boy's basketball seniors were recognized: Peyton Bechtold, Nicholas Black, Garrett Frick, Ethan Lee, and Trevor Perry. Congratulations to our 2018 winter sports seniors!
Winter Dance
National FFA Spirit Week
National FFA Week was February 17 to February 24. In collaboration with the National Week, our Big Spring FFA hosted a spirit week to involve the school. The spirit days were as follows:
Monday: America Day
Tuesday: Agriculture Logo/Color Day
Wednesday: Flannel/ Boot Day
Thursday: Blue and Gold Day
Friday: Maroon and Gold Day
Big Spring FFA celebrated National FFA Week with a meal at Hoss's. Representative Mark Keller attended the dinner showing his continued support and passion for agriculture and education.
Candy Grams and Valememes
On February 14th, Valentine's Day, the Sophomore Class officers and the members of Quill and Scroll Honor Society distributed candy grams and valememes. Students had the opportunity to send other students or teachers small bags of candy or witty valentines cards.

Winter Solo and Ensembles Concert
On February 2nd was the Winter Solo and Ensembles Concert. The concert was sponsored by the music honor society, Tri-M. The concert involved soloists, instrumentalists, and small groups. In the past, there was only one concert held in the Spring but, with the rapid growth of the Tri-M chapter, an additional concert was added in the Winter. This was a great concert to showcase some of the many talents from Big Spring.
TSA Conference
On February 3rd, the students from the Technical Student Association (TSA) competed at the Region 3 TSA Conference. Big Spring has 22 students competing in 10 different categories. The following students qualify for the state competition that will be in April.
The following students placed 3rd out of 11 for Architectural Design: Fawn Bennett, Brennan Flory, Jackson Penner, and Aidan Rauscher.
Bly Welker played 5th out of 51 for Dragster Design.
The following students placed in Flight Endurance:
- Hannah Hess : 3rd out of 20
- Britton Fickenbinder : 5th out of 20
- Jackson Penner : 6th out of 20
- Ian Ward : 7th out of 20
Taylor Gibonry and Aidan Rauscher placed 8th out of 19 for Structural Design and Engineering.
Cody Breon and Brennan Flory placed 6th out of 48 for Technology Problem Solving.
