Mission Elementary
Riding the Wave of Excellence!
October 22, 2023
Dear Mission Families,
Your presence and active participation during the parent-teacher conferences demonstrate your commitment to your child's academic success, and we are grateful for your support. Please continue to maintain communication with your child's teacher as the partnership is also a key to students' success.
This past week we celebrated Unity Day and everyone looked amazing in their orange attire. Let's continue our union in standing for kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. During the week of October 23-30 we'll unite to promote drug prevention awareness and show our commitment to leading a drug-free life. Be sure to read below in our Counselor's Corner for details on our Red Ribbon Spirit Week's dress-up days and fun activities that will be offered during recess.
Halloween:
After careful consideration and for the safety and inclusivity of all our students, we have decided not to allow costumes on Halloween Day.
While we understand that dressing up in costumes is fun we want to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students. Costumes can sometimes be disruptive or make others uncomfortable.
Please join us for our Halloween Dance on Friday, October 27 from 5:00 - 7:00. Your student may wear their costume.

Responsible Use of Technology
We want to emphasize the importance of monitoring and limiting your child's screen time and social media usage. While technology and social media can offer valuable educational and social opportunities, they also have the potential to become a significant distraction and, if not managed carefully, can have negative effects on your child's development. Below are 2 tips of more to come.
TIP Number 1
Set Time Limits: Establish daily or weekly screen time limits based on your child's age and needs. Ensure they have enough time for other activities like homework, physical exercise, and social interactions.
TIP Number 2
Monitor Content: Regularly check the content your child is interacting with, whether it's through apps, games, or social media platforms. Ensure it's age-appropriate and safe.
